Even after the gaffe worked its way through the press, Palin and her minions continued to assert that she was correct all along, and knew exactly what she was saying. Of course nobody bought it, except for the teabaggers who support Palin, and they'll believe anything she says. And those are the only people she needs to care about. With Bachmann, we've seen this same scenario repeat two different ways. First was her cringeworthy John Wayne/Gacy gaffe. By itself, it was no big deal, but the following day she was still trying to make it sound like she meant exactly what she said. Then it was the John Adams/John Quincy Adams flap. As mentioned, the younger was all of eight when he was "a founding father that worked tirelessly to end slavery". But that doesn't matter, it's her story and she's sticking with it. She'll chalk it all up to the 'lamestream media' with their gotcha questions. Just like Palin did with the Paul Revere thing. The only problem was that the original question she had been asked by the press was a total softball like "what did you enjoy on your visit?" For extra irony, Bachmann speaks at length about her "common sense" as being one of things instilled in her from her time in Iowa. The fact that Iowans agree with her shows just how crazy they are, and how much they're lacking in this same common sense. I mean, if they can't see through Bachmann's patently ridiculous rhetoric (which they can't) they aren't qualified to vote for their favorite singer on american idol. So why do we put so much emphasis on this silly little state anyway? These people are just crazy as she is.

The number was correct, but he said "states" instead of "contested primaries". No big deal, except for people who need to grasp at straws to make their point.

They excitedly believe whatever they want regardless of the facts and they blindly follow emotionally charged nonsense spewing nuts. Given their numbers, it's actually quite frightening if you think about what they could be capable of.

" I think we should clarify that to "the evangelicals who dominate the GOP Iowa caucuses," rather than "Iowans" in general. Iowa as a whole has gone democratic in presidential races for the past 20 years except for 2004, for instance. The caucuses are not a primary and are dominated by more zealous people who recognized years ago that they could have an outsized influence on the national scene by dominating this first caucus.
