Eccentric, a bit off beat but hey we are one big mess of a tight family. ;> She was very happy to be home. I had spent the morning with my one aunt organizing her bedroom and we decorated the house for Thanksgiving. My grandma loved that we decorated for all the holidays and she noticed so we were happy about that. We got all her furniture rearranged so there would be more room for chairs around her bed and hung pictures and posters of her favorite people and things with Johnny Depp front and center. LOL I should have bet my aunt as I told her we need to put Sammy (our 75lb boxer) in another room I'm afraid she's going to jump on my grandma's bed from excitment of seeing her. My aunt laughed at me and said noooooo way the stretcher will be to intimidating to Sammy. Well, things got kinda hectic when the ambulance arrived and we forgot about Sammy. Next thing we know Sammy is escorting the stretcher in. She sat next to my grandma's bedroom door while they switched her from the stretcher to her hospital bed. She then escorted the EMT's back to the front door. My mom and aunts were all fussing over my grandma getting her settled in when Sammy came running in and took a flying leap up onto the bed with a big kiss for my grandma. It was bedlam from there, some yelling at Sammy, so yelling mama, my grandma yelling happily SAMMY with a smile. Sammy jumped right back off the bed though. Things settled down. LOL Sammy is not camped out at the foot of my grandma's bed. She's on guard duty. It was a rough first night trying to figure out her medicine timing, her level of comfort, etc. The hospice personnel is excellent, they sent about 2.5 hours with us yesterday going over everything. They appreciated our charts and organization. Thankfully, several of my cousins are MA's and have convelescant (sp) experience. Unfortunately, Simba has taken a turn for the worse and I'm heading to the vet as we need to let him go, he's just in to much pain. When it rains it pours. We'll get through it though. Thanks for your continued prayers, just writing here and knowing you are thinking about all of us keeps me strong. ;>
