one story---a client of mine came in maybe a year ago and FINANCED a 150K german car--?? not sure which one with a 100k 7 year loan! Now that's not smart as I could have tied up a couple mill worth of real estate for that. I'm sure you're not mailing in coupons every month to finance the cars:)

Okay, but it's really two questions - the one above and the one below ...

    >> If people didn't vote AGAINST candidates instead of for their own, neither side would bother to run negative ads now would they? <<

My reference to "dumb voters" isn't about voters who voted 'against kerry' rather than 'for bush'. It also doesn't refer to voters who are basing their votes on negative attack ads.

At the time of the election, I freely and loudly proclaimed that I wasn't supporting kerry as much as voting for "anybody but bush". If a voter says they voted for bush because they didn't like kerry, fine - but that's not what they said. They said they were voting based on "moral issues", which is codespeak for gays and abortion. This set of priorities is so out of whack with reality that it's tantamount to saying "I voted for who I was told - nevermind the reasons".

They were deftly manipulated into voting for bush based on emotional (and irrational) pandering to their religious beliefs.

How can a voter not factor in the iraq war, the grossly irresponsible deficit spending, tax cuts for the wealthiest DURING the war and deficit spending, the corruption of multi-billion dollar "no-bid" contracts for bush's largest campaign contributors, and a whole laundry list of other grieveances when making their choice for president? These voters can. They just sweep all that aside and say "all I care about are morality issues" - as if morality doesn't isn't a factor within the bush white house. Or the 'morality' of painting your opponent as some potsmoking, draft dodging treasonous enemy of america, when in fact that's YOUR candidate and the opponent is a decorated military officer and bonafide war hero.

It shouldn't have worked, but it did. And that's because you can fool some of the people all of the time - the dumb ones.
