My backyard is not fensed in. This wasn't much of a big deal with Penny. She just stayed put and really didn't leave the area of the yard. My new dog Dixie considers the entire Cul de Sac to be part of her terriroy. She has been going around pooping in everyones front yard and neighbors have been complaining. So I have to put up a fense of something in my backyard. So I decided that if I'm going to finally fense in the yard then it might be time to remove some trees and turn into what I have always wanted. So fense contractors have been coming over to give me bids.

My backayard is up against a major road here in my area. And before I put up a fense or wall I wanted to make sure that I was building on my property and not the Counties right of way. So I hired a surveior. He came out last satruday and marked everything off. Anyway my neighbors one on side of me freaked when they saw the surveiyors marks and stuff. You want to keep in mind that my backyard is all woods I have never done anything with it. Up until this point it has been a place for my dogs to relive themselves and a buffer zone between my home and the road.

Well the neighbors freaked and last sunday the husband came over and insisted that part of the property I think is mine is actually theirs. I first showed him a copy of the plat I got at closing when I bought my home and showed him that MY property goes all the way back to the common property where there is a beaver pond. And THEIR property meets my property and the common area at a point. I think GAVE them a copy of the County records ( I had several copies made since I need to give them out to all the contractors ) showing that MY property goes 288.8 feel along the road and THEIR property has only one inch of road frontage. I then explained that the surveyor reconfirmed what the county said and marked it all off for me ( the surveyor was VERY accurate since he has a liscene at stake ).

Anyway they insist that 80 feel of MY property is theirs. All though three independent sources ALL confirm that my property and their property are triangluar shaped they insist that THEIR property is actually rectangular and extends back to the road.

I guess they didn't look at the plate when they bought their house since ALL the land behind their house is MINE and not theirs.

So they are freaking and asked me not to do ANYTHING yet since they are going to hire their own surveyor for $700. I told them I'm trying to save them $700. But if they want to have it done so be it.

Sorry for the hassle, KT. You'd think they'd see logic and save 700 hundred bucks, especially since you're showing it to 'em right to their faces. Oh well...

It's a mess. (We don't have the fence anymore so it's not a big deal to us.

Hopefully your mess will be resolved soon, KT!

I ideally want a wall up along my property and the road then stockade fensing between each neighors home and mine. We took into consideration all the setbacks and everything else.

I'm about to sink probably 50K into my backyard. Well yesterday the wife came over and told me that they are hiring a surveyor and asked me not to do anything in the backyard till they were done. I then showed her the landscape design complete with totem pole. And she freaks again. She said "You mean I'm going to be looking at an ugly wall from my kitchen window". It told her its going to be covered with rock ( where talking 25K just for the wall ). Then I told her that I am planning on building either a wall or putting up fensing on MY property not theirs. I have been trying to be nice but these people are out there.

Their kids are home schooled and we live in perhaps the best school district ( elementary school, middle school and high school ) in the state of Georgia. She doesn't work, never has. Her husband just took a 30K cut in salary. He specializes in Cobol, talk about ancient programing languages. Quite frankly I am sick and tired of her kids shooting at squirrels in my backyard immediately behind my house with BB guns ( another reason to fense off my property ). They dress their kids like Amish people and never let the kids out of the house. She told me that she won't let the kids play in the backyard because she is afraid that they will run out into the road behind the houses. Their oldest child is leaving next fall for college. Have you ever heard of a family that won't let their 18 year old child out in the backyard because they are afraid that he will run out into the road?

This whole thing to me seems like a control issue. They just want the final say in anything I potentially do in the back yard.

I'd be freaking thrilled if someone built a stone wall along my property.

Well the wife called the local animal control claiming that Sadie growled at her children. The animal control came out and laughed when they saw the brown lab. You want to keep in mind that no one in the cul de sac has their yards fensed in. Well since animal control wasn't going to do anything the wife took it upon herself and went around to ALL the houses in the subdivision and asked them to call animal control complaining about Sadie. The young couple were so horrified by this that they sold their home and moved out of the subdivision.
