I heard that from someone else too and I was just wondering, I thought any extra-curiccular (<spelling) is good.

Most of the work you do to get into the OoA is heavy manual labor and a 24 hour period in the wilderness with few supplies, and no fire making tools. >I thought any extra-curiccular (<spelling) is good.< From who I talked to at several colleges (University of Texas, Penn, and Ohio State) They don't even look at extra-curricular activity unless you are just below the cutoff line. They also said that Eagle used to be a rarer thing, and now they get it all the time. It's now like saying you had a summer job; they just don't care.

But gays are banned from ANY official involvement with Boy Scouts (Cub scouts, etc.). We could tag along on family camping trips or attend the pinewood derby like any other parents. But we couldn't do anything official. ANYTHING. That several of our friends have their sons in an organization that believes as a matter of policy that I am not morally fit to even be a Merit Badge Counselor really hurts. I'm a volunteer art teacher at our school. Imagine a student coming up to me to ask if I can be his Merit Badge Counselor for Art. I don't know what I'd say. One more reason we should have moved to Canada years ago. Sorry to hijack your thread for something so WEish. It's great that you've found a group that feels right for your son.
