Neither a loser nor not a true fan - we all know you're a fan Jim. But, consider how many people in America fly for 5 hours or more from the west coast (often 7-8 hours if they have to make a connection) to get to Orlando on a regular basis and consider this completely normal, often doing it annually for years at a time, and at the same time consider a visit to TDR or DLRP beyond consideration to do even once. Yet, Tokyo is only a 10-hour nonstop flight from several west coast cities, and Paris is about 11 hours, and neither have to cost an arm and a leg, especially in comparison to a week at WDW.

I understand your feelings, Jim, and I agree.

I wouldn't recommend a special trip JUST for any Disney parks...except for Orlando which is a real resort destination in and of itself.

Of course, as a Disney fan, I've made a couple of special trips to Anaheim for obvious reasons...but I think you have to be hardcore into Disney parks for a special "Disney" trip to be worth it (though SoCal is an awsome destination anyway, regardless of Disney...just like Tokyo, Hong Kong, and I assume Paris).

Having been to Hong Kong once now, and living in Tokyo, I can say that both cities are really awsome, and worth a trip (I'd like to go back to Hong Kong sometime, what a cool city!).

It really cracks me up when some people plan an entire 7 or 8 day trip to Japan (we see this occasionally on the Tokyo boards) with all but ONE day devoted to the parks. And then people ask for recommendations for their one day "in the city". Honestly, to each his own, but I think that's a shame. 2 days is enough for Tokyo Disney, seriously.

For Disney "fans" though, it is true that DisneySea offers a range of stuff that can't be found anywhere else. Given that, I'd recommend a Tokyo visit to a Disney fan that wanted to travel to any of the three foreign resorts.

As for Paris, I'd love to go someday. And the fact that I could check out Disneyland Paris is just an added bonus (it'd be hard to decide whether or not to devote a second day there, for me...unless I had virtually unlimited time in the country).

Speaking of not being a "devoted" fan, last month, for the first time ever I think, I spent a couple of days in Florida without setting foot in Walt Disney World! :O

p.s. I didn't start this topic to piss anyone off...I was just curious who's been where and whether there were any other "world travellers" who've been to all the parks.

    Blasphemy! :p

Sorry, not really, but I had to do that - running gag with a co-worker of mine that he's a blasphemer becuase he vactions in FL twice a year and yet NEVER visits WDW. Big 'ol weirdo,he is, IMO! lol

Oh, and since other folks are doing counts:

    DLR: 3 - 15 days total
WDW: 8 - 56 days total, with another 9-day trip coming up in 80 days :)

And, if I can be strong, this may be my last Disney trip until 2008, as Eric's started saying he wants to choose our next vacation destination, and I *know* that won't be Disney. Plus, I figure him choosing location for one out of every 4 or 5 vacations isn't too bad. (He's only gone on 1 DLR trip with me and 3, soon to be 4 Disney trips)

I think I'd been to DL maybe 8 to 10 times before my first AP in 1990 and have since lost count completely.

I have put off visiting the other parks in other countries because of the language barrier...so here is a stupid question....

Do they speak English in HK, DP, etc?
Would a tourist from Los Angeles be totally lost or would there be some familiarity?

DLP has 2 official languages - French and English, and they support Italian, German, Dutch, and Spanish .

Similarly, HK was a british colony and English is widely spoken. There are three official languages at HKDL, and English is one of them.

Tokyo I'll leave to the experts here, but I hear it's not too difficult to visit without Japanese language skills. I would imagine you would get the least out of the shows of the non US resorts, but the other bonuses would compensate.

As far as getting around Tokyo (and Hong Kong too), piece of cake. No worries about the language barrier...all signs are in both Japanese and English, and people are very helpful if you get lost (you might need to ask a few before finding an English speaker though...try younger folks, they're less shy and can remember more English from school).
