I like sandwiches, but DL's Plaza Inn menu is far more appealing to me.

Both serve essentially diner fare. But WDW's is more of the sandwich variety, yet it does have more of an upscale feel, and it has the full table service. It couldn't go to paper & plastic and keep the same ambiance.

To your point, dlkozy, it's probably $4 to $5 more per person than most buffeteria fare, but still a pretty good price for table service at WDW. In fact, it looks like the entrees are less expensive than the DLR Plaza's entrees, which apparently doesn't have the table service.

I never really considered eating at the Plaza Inn until last year while on a visit with DH. My brother strongly suggested the chicken since it has become a must for him on every visit. And we were not disappointed in any way. The chicken was a perfect shared lunch for the two of us & the quiet indoor ambiance was a nice relaxing breather from all the excitement outside.

We will definitely repeat this summer.

I have yet to get the chicken dinner there - I've always gone for the pot roast. It's call sirloin now, but it's basically the same thing - nice big chunks of beef with tasty brown gravy. Yummm!!!

Yes. Many times, and have always had a wonderful time. You get a plastic cup that says "My Disneyland Birthday" well at least each time I have gone we have. You get to decorate your own cake, which is fun but a little messy for younger kids. You also get a picture with Mickey and Minnie under the My Disneyland Birthday Banner. Of course the pictures are a separate purchase, but I do think they are part of the PhotoPass now. You can take your own picture of course.

My kids have been sung to at other Disney venues and enjoyed the birthday bucket that we have bought more than they enjoyed the Pat E Cake experience.

I would suggest starting your own topic in DL Planning about this and get a few more opinions.

Mickeysbestfan - thanks also for the suggestion of starting another topic/thread.

Sorry if I stepped on any toes by asking a side question. Still somewhat of a 'newbie' =)

Some people really don't like any of the character stuff or things you have to pay extra for (not saying dlkozy does or doesn't). Some people find it fun and worth it. By starting a new topic in planning you might get a better idea if this is something you would want to do.
