And yet we have capital punishment in this country, and my state murders far more people than any other. I was having this discussion last night with a dear friend who happens to be conservative. When we were done discussing other points, he went to the "well, you do support the death penalty, right?" question since most people here in Texas would say yes. Needless to say, I do not think I have the right to say another person should live or die and I don't think any other person has that right, either. I especially am not down with state-sponsored murder, which is how I view the death penalty.

It amazes me how so many of the ultra-conservative Christians think that abortion is an unpardonable sin but that the death penalty is fine and they do not see anything wrong with logic. Say what you want about the Catholics but at their views on life are consistent.

I'm just throwing that out there.

" Yeah, state-sponsored murder happens in the US and places like Iran and Iraq, the people we want to be nothing like (I assume, based on us invading one unprovoked and nearly invading the other).

I don't know... for me, it would have been amazing to walk the streets with Jesus. No matter what time I could have lived in, I wouldn't have known any different anyway.
