While I have never had an issue with a rude cast member at WDW I have noticed that the amount of knowledgeable CM's has fallen. I can't tell you how many times i have seen CM's give people the wrong info, directions or just not know the answer and usually I will be nice and jump in but I shouldn't have too.

Has the amount fallen? Or is it the percentage of the total amount? There are over 5 times as many CMs at WDW now than there were 20 years ago. Maybe the overall amount is the same, but they make up a smaller percentage of the total population?

lol ... well said. Conpletely agree.

I shared a CM encounter in an online survey I recieved after my visit. (How did you like staying at Port Orleans Riverside?)

It was Animial Kindom - uber hot day and there was a mad rush at the ice cream stand. The crowd was in a "I'll climb over you to get my Mickey Ear ice scream" frenzy with yelling and all - lovey indeed.

While in the line, I am watching the CM working the cart expecting him to loose his cool. He made a point to greet everyone, focus on *that* guest at the time and ignoring the surrounding mass screaming out of turn and be waited on. He calmly and cooly did the sales and had some send-off like "have a magical day" and even answered some question that was about the disney resort and he *knew* it.

I forgot the question but I remeber being impressed. At that point, I wrote is badge name down, noted the time and location, and planned to send something to guest communication which I did in the "tell us about your stay" online survey.

So - I guess my point is, a great CM does make a difference and enhances my Disney experience. AND is memorable.

Another great CM experience was the waiter at Mama Melrose who got us on TEST TRACK that night when it was in previews. He called and we met with a guy and were given tickets/passes that allowed us to go in a back way and we were ON!!!! And *why* did he do this? We were talking over dinner about how this was the SECOND time we had come to Disney expecting to ride TEST TACK and it was so delayed and HOW bummed we were ... etc .. Well, this waiter overheard and FIXED THAT :). I also got his name and sent it in to Guest Communications. And I will never forget it.

I have had the experience go the other way too - BAD.

At a *magical* Disney bus stop (oh god help us .. I rent a car from now on) there was this mass hysteria again. Anyway, I asked a question and the answer I got was "Hey, I am really a veternarian and in te process of looking for work - just doing this for now" anwser. Which was inexcusable. I mean .. wha? you are ABOVE doing this job? If you are a VET and have MORE education to be demeaning yourself to a job of *this* level then WHY DO IT - I don't care, I just want my answer with a Disney smile.

Another CM checking us in to Port Orleans Riverside (yes, I love that place) told us we could ask the boat diver to take us to Magic Kingdom - ON BOAT. LOL ... I know the boat schedules and the rivers *may* connect but they boats do NOT run from PO resort to the Magic Kingdom. If I was a first time visitor I would be put off.

And the WORST is just lack of interested and "why are you bothering me" attitude.

Bottom line - great CM's do matter. And they should know more than me. They should all be equipped with some type of PDA that connects to a database to answer questions. Please, let them all have Crack Berries and connect to Deb Will's site http://www.allearsnet.com/ as THAT site has *everything* you want to know !!!!!!

That was not comfortable. I like the Primevil Whirl at AK much better.

I think a large, elaborate dark ride like SPLASH could be applied to a kiddie coaster ride system. Why not?

From what I have read about the Paris coaster, there is little real show scenes and most of the ride happens in a dark cavernous space.

As for a ride based on Ratatouille,it's kind of a shame it's going to be a coaster.TDLFAN's suggestion of pumping in the scent of cheese set off a brainstorm---since the movie was about cooking and gourmet food, why not a ride through a gourmet restaurant, with the smellitzer providing the odors---about time they used it for something other than sulpher and stink bugs!
