Both the 2004 Dem. and GOP conventions had "free speech zones" (kind of an oxymoron, but there you go) that protesters had to go to, or get arrested. All in the name of "national security" of course. And both parties were happy enough with that, as neither wanted any disruptions. I'm assuming the same will hold this year. You can always have a few nutcases making trouble. But this idea that Democrats riot as some sort of inherent trait is as idiotic as... well, the people espousing it.

It was young urban citizens from our poorer neighborhoods who participated. Who knows what their political affilation was though and really who cares. They were engaging in criminal activities.
