Yeah, but that's not because Disney decided it would be a hit. They had NO idea the success that movie would have, and now are taking adantage of that. The same thing with Pirates. They didn't merchandise the first film because they didn't know it would be a hit. Now that they are marketing it, people are skeptical. What can they do, Disney can't seem to win with some people. I remember some complaining loudly that there wasn't ENOUGH stuff out when the first movie came out...now it's "too much".

Anyone heard any updates on that idea recently??? Movie tie-in blah-blah-blah is the new generation of Disney (minus the Walt in their name...I despise that every time I see it but then think it's best because much of what they do now is not even close to his standards.) I am not a fan of the movie tie-in but it did work well across the plaza in DCA where they re-themed the Bug's Life area--WOW! How cute is that?!--and so much better than the boring (albeit educational in a very I-5-via-Salinas-kind-of-way) farmland exhibit that was out there before. I agree however, that the Pooh ride stinks, ditto for the Buzz Lightyear ride (it's hideous in there--talk about recycling an "old" film, folks), and I always wished they would bring back the sub lagoon with an "Atlantis" overlay...but I am looking forward to "Nemo". The Pirates won't last...just like the 50th Celebration, they'll have there two year run (or so) and then part of them will get a new sequence in Fantasmic!, and the rest will go into some storage warehouse. Wouldn't it be funny if we saw a LP thread someday saying we missed them?! ;-D

Haven't seen you around the boards, before, p-n-p06. May we assume you are a lover of theme parks?

You ruined it for me ! I thought Jack Sparrow was a real pirate. That's it, you have to walk the plank !

Yes, I am a lover of the Disney parks. Other theme parks, not so much. Guess I am spoiled. I've been lurking reading the boards for some time just didn't throw in any comments until today.

I can't help but wonder how it would look if they put the same effort into some of the flat, cheap-looking sets that they put into the electronics and the Buzz AA. It's a fun attraction, a totally original concept, yet I always find myself wondering how much better it could be given what we've come to expect from Disneyland. Back on topic...

What had been the quiet charm of NOS at night at DL has been forever rendered asunder by the crowds and noise of Fantasmic - only on rare occasions is that part of the park open after dark when at least one staging of Fantasmic is not being offered. Times change and certainly DL evolves - pretty soon the "Yesterland" site will have a complete park full of attractions and areas that will have undergone complete makeovers/demolitions.

We won't discuss the nice lady with the donuts in her hair and the silly video you see once seated that warns against smoking and flash photography. Great attraction overall, but please take George Lucas up on his offer to film a new sequence...or two...maybe three. More, even.
