What, because Trump makes people feel uncomfortable in his manipulated "board room" firings on his TV show? Yeah, right...He's a pompous wind-bag, and I doubt the president would be afraid to debate him.

His track record is mixed AT BEST. What he does have is a genius for self-promotion and putting his name on everything, which makes him seem more important (and competent) than he is. He made himself a celebrity, you have to give him that. That ensured that even when he failed (often taking down plenty of "little people" along with the failure), he was able to get bankruptcy protection, keep his name in the news, and get something of a head start on his next venture, just leveraging his celebrity. That's a talent of a sort, but it doesn't translate to the Presidency, of course. Then there's his personal life, which actually makes Gingrich's look like a model of propriety. If you lived in NY in the 80's you read about pretty much every bimbette between (and sometimes during) Ivana and/or Marla, and it wasn't pretty. But that itself was a way of keeping his name in the news and increasing the value of his "brand" in a "I'm a Master of the Universe and can get any woman I want any time I want" kind of way. He's no Einstein, but you just know he's too smart to believe the birther crap. There are really only two possibilities here: 1). He's really NOT that smart, or 2). He's lying through his teeth pretending he does believe it. So... not very bright, or a liar. Neither a very promising characteristic for a President. But unless his outsized ego gets the better of him after all, there's no way he's running. I'm pretty sure this is all just another way of increasing the Trump brand value. Some people are lapping it up, and Trump himself is probably laughing at them at this very minute.

But it's nuts not to differentiate between different moral or ethical violations. And Trump's trump (ahem) most people's, if for no other reason that with his money came power over other people's lives. So his moral and ethical transgressions had real and negative consequences on plenty of people - both those he knew (and wronged) personally and those he never met and couldn't give two shakes about.

With the exception of "Obamacare," pols of both parties have been mouthing the same platitudes about "getting a hold on OPEC," getting a better deal on international trade agreements, and stopping offshoring for a long time now. Saying you favor these things and actually getting them done are two DECIDEDLY different things. A President can't just wave his hand and stop offshoring. And, in fact, free-market Republicans like Trump claims to be normally FAVOR offshoring and defend the right of US businesses to find the cheapest labor available.
