I know it WAS always more expensive but with prices coming down... The drive was not bad, but again traffic seems much worse now.

Would I be able to get from the two towns you mentioned to DL via surface roads in a reasonable amount of time? dsny1mom

Most of them have good areas and not so good areas. >>Would I be able to get from the two towns you mentioned to DL via surface roads in a reasonable amount of time?<< Absolutely not! I'd say your next best bet after Anaheim Hills would be the nicer sections of Fullerton. A southerly scoot straight down Harbor would get you to DLR within your allotted time. Usually. Based on your questions, you **REALLY** need to spend some time off resort property before you even think about the possibility of considering looking into this move. I don't want to rain on your Electrical Parade, but the rest of Southern California is a LOT different from Main Street USA. Also, heed the warnings about familiarity causing the magic to wane. I was at DLR today, and caught myself blowing right past Main Street to get to the rides I wanted to do. Wasn't even looking around. Cruella and the Mad Hatter could have been doing cartwheels around the hub and I wouldn't have noticed. It hit me that by now it's gotten so familiar that it's no different from going to the mall, except that the rides are better and the food is a lot more expensive. Don't let this happen to you.

It just seemed odd that the homes around DLR were so much more reasonable than homes in other areas. >>My question is where besides Anaheim Hills is a safe area to look?<< It's hard to break it down by cities. Most of them have good areas and not so good areas. I guess my best bet to see where it is safe and not so safe would be housing prices. If they are crazy high than I would be safe to assume the area is on the safer side. I'll add Fullerton to the list to look at! Actually I have spent a bit of time off property in years gone by, just not in Anaheim proper. When we looked to move out there 10 years ago I was mainly looking in Corona, Chino, Diamond Bar, Rancho Cucamunga. But now ten years later I don't want to be that far out, if I make the move. I do agree I need to take some time and really look at the areas around DLR. It's just so hard to pull myself away from DL when I am out there!!!!!!!! I know from memory that the Buena Park is pretty scary and I do recall driving to and from DLR and seeing some not so great areas in Anaheim proper, but was hoping there would be some safe areas. I could have sworn Santa Ana gave me a good safe feeling. We use the aiport there and have been to Main Place more than a few times. You know I absolutely agree that too much of a good thing can be not such a good thing. The way I figure it is when I go to So Cal on vacation I usually stay for atleast 14 days and go into DL every day for 10-12 hours. When I leave after that length of stay I am nowhere near satisified! If I was to move there I'd more than likely go once a week for a few hours a day. As I get older and closer to being a full fleged senior I think about what I will be doing. I'd much rather walk around DL in reasonable weather year round than a local mall in an area where it's either raining, snowing or 90% humidity year round! I do appreciate you and others taking the time to give such indepth info! It would be a MAJOR move for me and getting this type of info from the locals is so helpful! Thanks soooo much! dsny1mom
