There was another film from the same period that I can't think of the title of now...But it, like so many others, were an attempt to rip off the success of "Halloween"...Which to me is the most frigthening film I have ever seen in a theater....But this other film I mention had a scene in it where a head ended up in an aquarium and somewhere in the course of the film the characters rode a darkride attraction at an amusement park....Ring any bells? I want to say it had a lenghty title such as the film being discussed here...

The "Scream" series of films are some of the of rare recent scary movies I've seen and I really enjoyed them because of the humor blended in. "Sixth Sense" was great, and I liked the remake of "House on Haunted Hill," too. "The Ring" was cool even if I didn't "get" all of it (who did?? *LOL*) "Poltergeist" is still one of my all-time, all-timers, but the sequels were lousy.

I saw the first couple of installments of "Friday the 13th" when they first came out (even saw "Texas Chainsaw" and "Last House on the Left" at the drive-in back in the '70s), but as I got older and the world got scarier, I decided I didn't want to see that type of blood and gore anymore. I prefer scary movies with a decent storyline.

Saw the original "...Stranger..." and like you guys, thought it was pretty much a nothing movie. (I knew the Carol Kane answer without looking, too. ;-) Won't bother with the remake at all unless it happens to come on TV on a boring Saturday afternoon sometime.

I love this version and have a copy of the DVD.

I did see "When a Sytanger Calss" at the theater, way back when... The first ten minutes was great. I don't remeber anything past the revelation, so in general it must not have been a great movie. but that first part was so well done and I always enjoy Carol Kane.

And to be a complete dork, when I just saw the trailer, and I heard "Have you checked the children?" I kind of had a twinge. But I do agree, the whole movie was basically shown on the trailer. I may rent it, but I'm not going to see it in the theater.

there are precious few actors around today who can hold a candle -- DiNero / Hoffman / Pacino etc -- but they are not exactly young any more either.

I hope people start tiring of remakes -- even Peter Jackson, whom I admire to the nth degree for the quality of the Lotr movies - isn't going to have the Titanic beating box with Kong everyone predicted -- how many times can the same movie be done ?
