Again, my point about "the good guys" isn't really to say that America hasn't ever doing anything *wrong* up til now. And I could certainly make a point in America's favor for continuing to fight the worlds' most oppressive regimes with taking on the terrorists and the extremists in the Middle East (even prior to 9/11). It's just the little things that make me think "bully" as opposed to "champion".

    Like torture, obviously.

Saying "screw you" to the world with the for us or against us stuff and so many other comments like that (I don't recall that in my lifetime up til now...we always worked with our allies and even the fence sitters unless I'm just misremembering).

And, in general, just the overall unease that comes with the fact that these days it seems like no matter WHAT the government does (wiretaps, screwing with the constitution, renewed racism both public and governmental), it is viewed as "just fine" by most folks because hey, things are different now and you can justify ANYTHING because we're dealing with evil monsters.

Thing is, we've been dealing with evil monsters for a long time. Somehow we've always held up the standards of decency along the way...which makes America all the more amazing (of course we've had some dark chapters...the McCarthy thing, the Japanese internments...again, never "perfect", but always seemingly trying at least).

I don't know whether or not that particular rant helped or hurt my argument lol, but anyway I do appreciate the acknowledgment that you read my post and (hopefully) see somewhat where I'm coming from. :)
