Ohh that made me think of driving cross the states and seeing them signs on the side of the road while you were driving when you read them as you passed them they made up a whole commercial about something. I remember ones about shaving cream or after shave. Burma Shave, if I remember correctly. LOL those were always fun to read!

If course, after we moved back to CA in 1984 I rarely go to See's and rarely get those cookies. My late husband would make a special trip to See's for my birthday to get me my favorites: Marzipans and the pastel colored bon bons (apricot, coconut and orange).

I had the cologne, the soap, the powder... Okay, so it wasn't exactly fine perfume... How about pink popcorn that came in those brick shapes! And those giant dill pickles you picked out of the pickle barrel. We could eat those for a week. Did anyone ever sleep on pallets on the floor? Just lots of homemade quilts laid down when your cousins or friends came and spent the night... Or how about sleeping 2 or 3 to a bed and having one person sleeping at the foot of the bed so you always had someone's feet in your face... Remember when coulotte (sp) skirts first came out? And those white patent leathery looking knee high boots that fit your legs like a second skin! And those dresses I wore in high school that were so short you had to wear matching underwear...what did they call them...oh yeah! Sizzlers! I remember my first pair of clogs...brown leather and my Dr. Scholl's wooden soled sandals. Don't they still have those? And Earth shoes! I think I was in seventh grade when our school finally allowed girls to wear pants on campus. I had a pair of green hip hugger bell bottoms and a pair of light blue hip hugger bells with this really wide red belt. And my dad was always calling me a "hippy" cause I didn't want to wear dresses and I had my hair in braids or ponytails .

I havent thought about that stuff for years! It's so amazing the things you are posting because it's like your reading my mind! I LOVE IT! ( them boots had the squarest heel Ive ever seen! I loved my clogs and they were brown leather too with rivets on the sides!) I had baby blue hiphugger bell bottoms that were my faves and wore them with a white angle shirt with the flaired sleeves and it had embroidery flowers on the sides of the neck of the shirt. omg! whata hoot! I actually still kinda like that hippy look. My mom always said I dressed like a gypsy! LOL!!!

(Those pantaloon things with lace that were supposed to show under your miniskirts) Did you do midi-skirts and maxi-skirts, too? (Never did like the maxi moniker!) HAD to listen to Wolfman Jack at night or KOMA radio. And the Boss jock from somewhere in L.A. Casey Kasem...radio and 45's were my life!

It was like a death to me. Still is. What a car....the "R" and "M" were missing from the front grill (the only un-mintness about it) and we called it "Abler". It WAS Abler than most.... *sniff*
