Deanna asserts that she is qualified to be starting QB because she has spent the past 16 years married to Brett while he played QB for the Packers. During this period of time she became familiar with the definition of a corner blitz, and is now completely comfortable with other terminology of the Packers offense. A survey of Packers fans shows that 50% of those polled supported the move.

Does this sounds idiotic and unbelievable to you?

Well, Hillary Clinton makes the same claims as to why she is qualified to be President and 50% of democrats polled agreed. She has never run a City, County, or State." >>>

So, my question was, why are you shocked people would vote that way?

I think a "chick or a black guy" could be President. I don't think Clinton would make a good President...but she is the "chick" in question.

I am reserving judgment on Obama. It is my hope that, should he win the nomination, we might start hearing some more substance. My philosophy my entire life has been to vote for the best candidate and my mind is open to him.

But, in my life I have yet to vote for a Presidential candidate who was a Democrat. And, given those I have had to choose from since my first vote in '88 that doesn't come as a huge shock.

I have voted for countless Democrats at the State and Local level.

I don't know if I said shocked, but I just can't believe people will vote this way. By the millions. I know I can not in good conscience vote Republican at all.

I relaize it is kind of a mixed message I'm sending.

On one hand, the Republicans have been absolutely horrible, and I can't understand anyone voting for them.

On the other, we got a black guy and some girlie who are uppity.

Will reason and decency overcome people's base prejudice? Will I be wrong about that and it will? Or will people once again vote against their own self interests, like they have before, and vote Republican?

I think they will not, and we will get a Republican president, and it just confounds me.

You already have been wrong before, and you made the predictions with the same certainty. Maybe your Magic 8-Ball isn't working.

Not by a whole lot. I didn't take into account some things that in retrospect I probably should have.

But I do wonder what it must be like for you to never be wrong about anything ever. Is it a burden?

Not really, I'm wrng quite often. Just ask my kids.

But I tend to not make sweeping predictions with such certainty. You make these big, bold statements, (largely I think because you enjoy sparking debate, and that's fine, I see it for what it is), but you keep doing that. So, when one of those predictions doesn't work out, it calls into question your next series of bold predictions.

But, I must say, as much as I dislike the way jonvn delivers his message, I think many of his points about this election are accurate.

Of course, if you make hundreds of points some of them are bound to be right.

So do I. I also notice that when I am in a gloomier mood, I agree much more than when I'm feeling chipper. So if I am arguing with him, chances are I'm happy. Or the gin has finally kicked in.

    >>2oony...you don't make sweeping predictions or, for that matter, sweeping generalizations?<<

If I answer "no" then that would be a sweeping generalization. Damn trick question!

Of course I do. I say everything that way. Lead, follow, or get out of the way.

I don't mind being wrong, and admit to it when it happens. But, again, I'm not omniscient, and can't predict the future or how everyone will behave. I'm giving my opinion, and it can be right or wrong.
