Lee, the price of around $200 is what I remembered. Did the quick math in my head using 7:1 conversion when I paid the bill. Looking back at my statement, I see the real amount was closer to $150 using a more realistic conversion rate. Thanks for pointing it out.

The way they cook is also "gweilolised" or they provide 2 sets of menus for 2 different groups of customers. It is also true that it is important that the customer know how to order chinese food, particularly some of the dishes might not be on the menu.

Of course SuperDry. TDL is a nightmare. Beyond Sweetheart Cafe (pasta) and Eastside Cafe (a nice beancurd-type dish if I recall) there isn't much else available. Despite asking Hokusai refused to offer a vegetarian plate and that is sadly the problem at many of the TDR restaurants. They don't cater for special cases. I have never found a veggie pizza in the place either. Not once.

That said I have eaten at the dinner shows in Adventureland and both offered a veggie plate when requested. It wasn't great but the shows are fun.

TDS is a little better but still very Italian. Canaletto has a veggie pasta and Magallans offered a veggie if I ordered it in advance. Zambini Brothers is actually the best on property as they usually have 2-3 dishes but again it is all Italian. Otherwise all of the other dining doesn't offer veggie plates. The buffets have some things.

If they eat fish it is a lot easier but otherwise you might be better sticking to the Western hotels like Hilton (very good food in their new-ish restaurant) or the Sheraton. Ambassador is a heck of a struggle and they are always reluctant to do anything. MiraCosta is a little better and Silk Road did go to a lot of effort.

The irony is that there is more choice in the OLC executive dining room for veggies than at any restaurant on property.

If you want to know more just email me. I can also ask Tetsuya for you if you have any specific queries (especially about ordering meals in advance).

HKDL is CERTAINLY more "authenic"...strictly Chinese, and I think the lunch that I had in Tomorrowland with WD was close to the tastiest Chinese food I had in my 2 day Hong Kong adventure!

TDR, for me, is more of a taste of "home" than anything else. Before Planet Hollywood, before TGIFridays, before all the chains came to town, Tokyo Disneyland was the ONE place where us Americans could get a real "taste of home"! We actually spent entire days in the park just eating. :p

    >>>Some of the pizzas are just downright strange!<<<

Don't blame Disney. I think all of Japan has a weird Pizza problem. Sorry, but a mayonaise and squid pizza (with extra seaweed) is just NOT appealing, believe it or not.

Really? What brilliance - I would have never guessed that myself. Just so you know (I'm sure others already realized this), my comment meant that it is very unlikely that you will be served authentic food if the place is set with western utensils, not that having chopsticks makes the food better.

Actually, I just realized that the gyoza restaurant at water level in Mysterious Island (not the cart upstairs) serves vegetable gyoza, so that's another option.

I've been trying to figure out other options for when we're in town. Yakitori is an obvious choice, as the vegs can just order things like the mushroom, onion, and asparagus skewers (assuming that the shared grill is not a problem).

<<< (geez, you veggies are a pain in the butt! :p)... >>>

Tell me about it. Just put a plate of food in front of me and I'm happy.
