And anything major/long term has been shelved for the time being.

It was very much something of its era. It's surprising just to realize how very different Michael Jackson looked in EO compared with his final years. In all honesty, I must admit I was never a fan of Captain EO. In this, I know I am in the minority opinion. So that's partially why bringing it back doesn't thrill me much. But what do I know? As much as I think he's now too controversial a figure for Disneyland, I've no doubt that a huge number of folks would love to have the show back again. I just am never going to be a proponent of retroland in any form, and Disneyland's over-reliance on nostalgia, nostalgia, nostalgia has really been played to the hilt for a decade at least.

First off, the best effect they have, you basically have a giant motion simulator in the theatre - when the EO ship is flying thru the fake Deathstar canyons, the seats can move along. When the ship crashes, you can shake the room. Other effects are wind, spraying water, the rat effect (wind blowing on your feet), smoke coming out of the screen. With the water spray, imagine feeling Captain EO sweat flying in your face ash he's dancing! The only major expense would be converting to DD3D and reprogramming the SPFX. Just leave everything inside the theatre alone - no need to remodel. Leave everything as is. - ok, if you insists, take down those Inventors Institute signs. Just have a plain generic theatre If you want to be really cheap, leave it film based and just reprogram. But hope not, DD3D is far superior. Look as Sea World San Diego. They seem to change out that 4D movie every couple of years. But guess what, the theatre stays the same, it's just the movie changes but using the same in theatre effects.

That's how long ago it was. Ay yi yi! Anyway, bringing back Captain EO is a bit desperate and morbid too.
