Include a 'limited edition collectible pin' and a 'certificate of authenticity', put it in a metal box and charge $50 bucks. They'd have people lined up for hours. They could even throw in a copy of 'Golden Dreams' as a bonus.

Remember, there was an EIGHT HOUR line for the 50th anniversary pin on 07/17/05.

Oh well gee whiz, he didn't say anything about a certificate of authenticity!

Which, BTW, Oswald came with too. Yep, nothing inauthentic about Oswald! (Except the framerate.)

It's such an old-school idea. Who wants live performances anyway? ;)

Disneyland did and does a masterful job of adding things in to the very tight spaces available to them.

This is a great image of a postcard -- showing the area at dusk.

Ahhhh. Makes me nostalgic for the old days of Disneyland. Love the giant palm trees.

You can hardly relax when you're there from all the running around.

    Maybe I'm just getting old...

Loved, and totally vote for going back to the open Space Stage/Space Mountain complex.

And to this day, I still feel like I'm just walking up the ramp to order food at Space Place with the current entrance on the side.

It was AWFUL! Why would anyone want to see this. It's O.K. when Jackson is dancing or singing but he is the WORST actor ever and the special effects are ridiculous.<<

Seeing it on a 3 inch viewing area on Youtube .. and seeing it on a 55 foot theater screen with the "in theater" effects going are two different things.

Plus .. are you comparing this 1986 film to 2009 standards?

The catch is to put one's self into a 1986 time frame to truly appreciate it for it's time period.

Another thing - Do you hate movie musicals - (songs where people burst into song and dance spontaneously?)

This is pretty much designed like movie musical of the past.

One can call this as "cheesy" as Singin in the Rain, Sound of Music, or Chicago .. just for starters.

Yeah, MJ isn't the greatest of actors, and compared to today's digital effects the stuff they did on film are kinda hokey. But it's still a great piece of memorabilia, and seeing it again in the Magic Eye theater would be completely different from watching it on the web, or even on dvd as presented by the Extinct Attractions Club.

For the record, the parties celebrating the opening of Captain Eo and Star Tours were both 60 hours long, starting on Fridays. I remember live television commercials for the Star Tours opening. Cool stuff. I still have the watches that were being given away.

However, it looked like a ridiculous movie, to me, and the special effects have not aged well (compared to the special effects in "Alien" or "Star Wars" which still look good today).

It's O.K. if you want to see "Captain EO" in the theatre again. I still think that "Thriller" would be a better choice.

If you just watched film part of Star Tours, America the Beautiful, Soarin, Muppets, Bugs Life, etc, on a 3 inch youtube video, they'd be awful too.

As the others have said, being there is different with all the spfx.

You aren't seriously comparing Captain Eo to these musical classics, are you? Really? Captain Eo?

I really don't think that Soarin' or America The Beautiful would be that awful to watch on youtube. Both were decent films with wonderful soundtracks and no real narrative, which makes them more like a music video than a musical like Captain Eo.
