Sounds to me like they're all exactly the same effect.

It's not like there's a whole lot of creative stuff you can do with 3D. Closer, further away, closer, further away ... big whoop.

The recent movie Monsters vs. Aliens did very little extrusions, but the depth in their 3D was pretty impressive. It can be difficult to get the 3D effect to work really well with extrusions, but when they're done slowly, allowing the time for your eyes to select an image and then track it as it comes out over the audience, it can be a very effective element of the show.

Talk-a-long would be great - everyone quoting the movie
    "We're going in!"
    "Let's go, Hooter!"
"My loyal companions and I accept your punishment..."
    "Hooooooter !!!!!"
    "Who ate the map?"
    "You think me... beautiful?!?!?!"
    "Where is this.... Gift ??!"

So what if everyone laughed at MJs lousy acting and the campiness, that would the point of it and the fun.

The idea of doing a Rocky Horror thing is not at all for me . . .

As MJ would say... You are not alone.

I haven't been to Disneyland during October in many years, but I would make the trip for Cap't EO.

Toss in the Halloween makeover for Space Mountain... Makes it a must-do extra trip for Me and the Mr.

(And since my 33-year wild ride at work comes to an end on September 25, it's a "can-do-easy" - as one of my early bosses used to say. :)

And it does it with a very small overall footprint in the park. Considering that 'space mountain' holiday makeover(max capacity maybe 1100 pph?) will likely be more popular than ever, having Eo running could be very useful in helping to absorb a lot of the overflow.

I'd like to see them do it - just for fun. I won't be visiting the park for the next several months either way, so I don't have any personal stake in it. But I don't think it would be all that difficult or expensive. As mentioned, they'd need to strike a few new prints of the film - not difficult, not expensive. The starfield effect at the beginning can be duplicated with standard issue theatrical gear - it rolls out on netting - not difficult, not expensive. Laser beams? fog machines? Ubiquitous. Flash lights? Can do.

As an added bonus, it would also hasten the end of HISTA, already long overdue. At it's core, Disney is a FILM STUDIO - they could certainly come up with a twelve minute 'something' to put in a movie theater and call it a brand new attraction.

If they wanted to ... but obviously they don't. So they'll just re-install HISTA and watch the guest count drop back into the low hundreds per day.

Actually the total number of seats is 575. per show, but 40 of the seats have to remain empty every show. We do about 4-5 shows an hour. An article in the oc register actually confirmed disney is already bringing it back for halloweeen time. it dosen't metion weather it will be permanent or not. Although I have to wonder if Hista will come back after this. It would be a good excuse to get rid of the ride permantly

Months?? It's only coming back for halloween time i think. Which would mean it would be there for only about a month. So I don't see the line dying down at all.

    Link por favor?

The only thing I can find on their website is a blog relaying the Al Lutz report - and he says they're only considering it.

Right, but its success would imply that it would return each and every Halloween. Sorry, I just don't like the idea of Eo coming back to DL. I'm tired of Disney recycling everything, especially at DL. The park seriously needs more new and original offerings. Captain Eo? Starring Michael Jackson? In Tomorrowland? How positively 80's. Yawn.

It looks like it's nothing more than a report on the current rumors in the theme park business. Nothing regarding Eo appears to have been confirmed.

You'd think. All the more reason not to go back to the 80's. Let's see the NEXT thing, not more nostalgia.

Many people reached out to try to touch it - the illusion was just that real.
