Some years ago, my employer asked me to use Facebook on behalf of the company. My response consisted of two points: 1. Absolutely not. 2. If he were to make it a direct order, it would result in my immediate zero-notice resignation. The subject has never come up again.
I never really wanted to do FB. But when I found out my best friend had died when my daughter called; because she had seen it on FB before I was notified; I knew I would never do it. Very thoughtless in my book.
Oooh, that's not good.... I can see why you would be turned off by it. I joined years ago, basically to keep tabs on what my kids were doing online. Then, I created a page to advertise our business. And, in the process, I reconnected with a lot of old school chums, family, and a few celebrities. I was thankful to make friends with Scott McKenzie ('60s singer) years ago. He was a funny and intelligent man and he interacted with people a great deal on his page. We exchanged many pm's and I was profoundly influenced by his outlook on life/death. I made lots of friends from around the world through him. Scott has since passed away, as have several of my FB friends. Over the years, with all the shared stories, tears, laughs, and photos with these people....It's like a journal. I hate to just toss it away.
When somebody makes a particularly pushy demand that I "like them on Facebook," my response typically runs something like: And if somebody allows LinkedIn to mine my email address from their email reader's address book, I typically go ballistic. I draw the line just past photo-hosting sites like Flickr, that only pretend to be social media. And even with Flickr, I do not use their pseudo-social-media functionality; only their hosting.
Well, I'm glad you haven't abstained from discussion boards. But then, there isn't usually a whole lot of discussion around here. I suppose it could be worse.
The only social media I look at is Pinterest...is that considered to be social media? I use it to get recipes for my Instant Pot/Slow cooker. My food never turns out looking the way it does in the pinterest pictures, but it is quite tasty which is a win in my book.
I've been using the heck out of our slow cooker. In fact, I have some chicken in there today. Haha! It's the easiest and best way to make some shredded chicken for burritos!
Here's the BBQ sauce recipe for any and all who are interested. 1 cup Ketchup (I use the jalapeno ketchup for extra bite) 2 TBS Mustard 2 tsp Lemon juice 1/4 tsp Garlic powder (I use a little more than that, but I'm a fan of garlic) 1/2 cup Maple syrup (use the good kind...don't use the syrup w/ butter flavoring it really throws it off) 2 TBS Worcestershire sauce 1/2 tsp Chili powder (I tend to use a bit more here as well) 1/8 tsp Cayenne pepper (or red pepper flakes are good as well) 2 dashes Hot pepper sauce So much tastier than the bottled BBQ sauces they want you to throw in the slow cooker when making BBQ anything.
That sounds really good. A lot like my own but with some twists. I will have to give it a try (minus the jalapeno catsup, I don't do spicy.)
Thanks, that sounds good and simple. When the weather cools down I'm going to start using my smoker grill A LOT! Both of my boys love bbq sauce and I don't know why I never thought of making my own.
I don't know if I want this week to go by quickly or slowly because I haven't even started to think about what needs to be packed.
My RV is in the shop getting warranty work done. I am happy that it is free but do NOT like my new ride being tied up.
