I have a whale of a tale already but no time. Just want to say that Clearlake was very successful for our 19yo grandson who caught his first fish. A 30 inch 10 pound catfish!!!!!!!

Yes, he was very excited to eat it.
Sadly, we had to leave and missed out on that part.

Godspeed, Robert Behnken and Douglas Hurley. May you return safely to Earth.

Seeing Endeavour under four parachutes, and seeing Behnken and Hurley pulled out aboard the recovery ship, I choked up the same way I do in the last few minutes of Gibson & Coe's Footprints on the Moon (or any other historic record or live coverage of astronauts, cosmonauts, or taikonauts returning to Earth).

When I first got word that the splashdown was targeted on the Gulf of Mexico, only a few miles from Pensacola, my immediate reaction was on the order of "are these people completely nuts? That's not much margin for error!"

I am rather happy to have come from an area with 12,000 Covid cases to one with 132.

    That's still 132 too many.

Quite agree!!! This is the South and there is a lot of stubborn refusal to follow any rules. I am not making this up to criticize the South. I am witnessing it.
We are just staying in and playing games and watching TV.

This morning, about 5:30 AM, I woke up from a dream of one of my elaborate vacations. I was on the third and final day of a stay at some sort of agricultural living history museum (with a working dairy), and about to get on a train to San Francisco. One of the people running the museum (and specifically the dairy) was a cute redhead who reminded me of Mary Alice Yeskey (Duff Goldman's office manager from Ace of Cakes). I was telling her about the next stop on my vacation, when I woke up. And realized that this place where I was vacationing was (like so many places I'd visited in dreams) not a real place, and remembered COVID-19.

    That left me very depressed.

The *virus which must not be named* has snuck into some of my dreams lately.

Last night I dreamed my family was visiting someone in a hospital. I suddenly panicked because I realized that none of us were wearing masks. I went out into the hall and realized that no one, not even the doctors and nurses, were wearing masks. I woke up soon after but I know I was totally freaking out because we were in a hospital with no masks. (Probably a bit of my fear of being in an area where people are militant about refusing to wear them.)

I had one a while back about Disneyland and ending up in a bathroom line that wound clear backstage due to having to stand 6 feet apart.

You aren't the only one having those kinds of dreams...both the virus that must not be named AND the Disney parks have played their roles in my dreams as well. We did end up cancelling our September WDW trip because all three of us are considered to be front line employees and are unable to work from home due to what our jobs entail. We would've had to self quarantine upon coming home, and none us want a THREE week vacation...or have the PTO available to do so. We will wait until things aren't quite so crazy...but who knows when that will be.

    Big sigh indeed!
As we were driving out here I was talking about how the seriousness of this did not really hit home until they closed Disneyland. The longer it is closed the bleaker it feels. I am totally against opening too soon but feel that the light I am looking for at the end of the tunnel is Disneyland opening and staying open because we have found a way to tame this thing.

This morning, I woke up at 5:30 from another dream. This time, I was attending a Jeopardy! taping (something I have done), and for some reason, I had to leave and use the Men's Room during the commercial break just before Final Jeopardy. And when I returned (during the break between episodes), I looked around, thinking there was somebody there I knew. I looked around, and while many of the faces were vaguely familiar, none of them were people I actually knew, and for some reason, I was unwilling to ask a total stranger how Final turned out.

At least this one didn't leave me in a state of near-clinical depression.

Personally, I haven't had many nightmares lately, at least none that I can remember (years ago, I had one involving a giant, sentient, very hostile [and rather sadistic] insect with a stinger the size of an epee; I turned that nightmare into a short story, titled "Reduvius ferox"). After all, we're living in a nightmare.

Hmm. Part of the problem is that certain individuals don't consider freedom to be meaningful unless it's absolute, up to and including the freedom to go to Hell in a handbasket, regardless of whether or not it's your own Hell, or your own handbasket, and regardless of how many unwilling passengers you're taking along for the ride.

"Oga's Cantina BEER now sold from CARTS in Galaxy's Edge"?!?o_O:confused::eek:

Oh. The WDW Galaxy's Edge, in Studios. Not quite as shocking as it would be in the DL Galaxy's Edge, but nonetheless, it's another step down the slippery slope of alcohol being made widely available in Disneyland.

    What would Walt have said?:(
