Reminds me of a time many years ago. My husband's grandparents went to see Last Tango in Paris thinking it was a dance movie. She said " I did not mind the sex so much but I didn't like all of that swearing!" TRUE STORY!!
. . . that there is very little that I agree with in Tony Betti's recent retrospective on Daft Punk and their highly questionable contribution to Tron: Legacy. I find nothing "amazing" about its soundtrack, and certainly nothing to love or celebrate about it. It would have been so much better with a Wendy Carlos score, like the original. And as to the supposedly "beautiful visuals and production design," I find that for me at least, it looks more like humans-in-neon-suits on physical sets than in the backlit-animated original, while at the same time falling head-first into "uncanny canyon."
That was brought up in a sermon, this past Sunday. I forget which of the three church services it was, but it was either Neighborhood Church UCC, Palos Verdes, or University UMC, Irvine, or St. Mark's Cathedral, Seattle.
This is a PSA We will be away for a while with no internet access. I will probably be back on by Tuesday or Wednesday.
It was fun and work. We took 4 truckloads of junk to the dump from Rod's mom's house. (After nearly 2 years; it is finally starting to look like we have been doing something.) But we also found a great little lake with hiking trails and pretty scenery. We probably did 10 miles over two days. We should be able to do some fishing next time. We also took advantage of the lack of Wifi to watch some favorite old movies, numerous episodes of Hulk (Lou Ferrigno! best Hulk ever) and play games.
Last night, while reading The Magician's Nephew, I thought of a definition of evil: That which seeks wealth derived from the impoverishment of others, comfort measured only by the suffering of others, and the power to enslave or destroy others.
