Joseph Heller's God Knows is bawdier than I remember it (from 30 years ago) A lot bawdier. And I'm getting Biblical in-jokes I never got 30 years ago.

I am soooooooooooo looking forward to spending a week in Ft. Bragg soon. Our son has gotten into a project remodeling an old hotel into a B+B. We get an Ocean View room in exchange for Rod's *consultation*.

The needle-stick from my COVID-19 shot was probably the least-unpleasant one I've had, that wasn't from a dentist, going into gums that had already been pre-numbed with anesthetic-laced prep-gel.

The immediate aftereffects (first a slight chill, followed by lightheadedness, cold sweats, and loud, hissing tinnitus in both ears) were a bit of an E-ticket, though.

    Now just some lingering soreness.

My sister had absolutely zero effects from her first shot.
We actually had ours scheduled but I was also scheduled for a mammogram and was told to postpone one or the other. (Turns out the vaccine can cause a false positive.) We are going out of town so we are waiting until we get back. Then we have to make sure we get it so we have time to get the second dose and two weeks waiting period before our Hawaii trip.

    This place is [IMG]

We have a really cute suite. It is a big room and the king sized bed is in an alcove. The rest of the room has a couch and table and chairs with 'fridge and microwave. There is a full kitchen down the hall that we can use as well. There is a gas powered fire place and full bath. We can see the ocean from our room and have an even better view from the room upstairs. It is kind of funny cuz our son has learned to serve people and he treated us like customers. He made up our bed and brought us clean linens.
We are staying at one location that used to be a hospital. It is for the workers so we actually have a whole floor to ourselves. There are ramps and stairs everywhere as well as dumb waiters and laundry chutes. All this wonderful old fashioned stuff is accompanied with cable TV and WiFi. I will get some pictures to post later.
Rod is over at the other location which is the one that is being worked on. I am free to sleep, eat, watch a movie, exercise, soak in the tub.(I have done all except the latter so far.) I think I can stand a week of this.[IMG]

We had such a great week. If I did not have doctor's appointments; I would not have left.
This was a birthing room in the 1920's. Kind of awesome to have an ocean view.

This woman was born in the room and spent her 40th birthday there after it became a B+B.

There were lots of secretaries and other interesting desks and sideboards.

I found this room to be particularly interesting with the bathtub and sink in the room...

Is it just me or is the TV in a slightly precarious position next to the bathtub? I have to admit those are really unique rooms though. It looks like you guys are having a great time.

I did not think about it at the time but yes, that TV could be a hazard. Especially since they are so light-weight these days.

Just a few other shots of interesting stuff.

Each room has a radiator but the steam furnace in the morgue no longer works.

The rooms remind me of the Columbia Gorge Hotel. They still have the radiators, and you're lucky to have a private bath. I think things have changed since the last time I was there, but it was a nice little getaway and their restaurant is AMAZING!!!

Steve and I are going to our first Mariners game in a couple of years on Saturday. So excited to go, but still a bit nervous too. We are sitting in a vaccinated area, but I'm not sure how it is being enforced...guess I will wait and see. Woohoo!! Bobblehead night!!

I hope everybody has a safe Memorial Day weekend. Thank you to those that have served our country, and the families that support them.

I guess there will be a lot of speculation and confusion as we attempt to resume our pre-Covid lives.
As of right now; Hawaii is requiring a negative test even if fully vaccinated. That requirement is set to be lifted July 4 and we are flying out July 6. I think we are going to make appointments for tests just in case something goes awry.
My daughter and I were planning to make Aloha masks and now I wonder if there will be a mask mandate be then. I figure we will still need them to ride The Bus.

So glad they got the forums back up and running!!

I'll be curious to hear about your trip @iamsally with the whole mask thing. Our trip to WDW isn't until September, but we are looking forward to some "normalcy" as well.

As of right now; the test is required until July8!!!!! TWO DAYS OFF!!!!!!! We should not have to wear masks outside (which is where you spend most of your time in Hawaii) but most likely will still need to on the Bus.

Masks will be required across the nation on public transportation. I don't see that being lifted anytime soon considering I work for public transportation. Most buses will have masks available for riders...at least they do in Portland.
