The proper way to say grace over a basket of Easter eggs:

"We thank thee for the gifts which we are about to receive from thy Bunny."

(I think that's from Dick Van Dyke's memoir of teaching Sunday school, Faith, Hope, and Hilarity.)

Brought both my blood sugar and cholesterol down so blood work was good except now my sodium is too low. Huh? All these years of being told not to eat salt!!!
Should be an easy fix with balancing electrolytes but have to have more work done in 3 weeks.

Is it just me, or have Itzhak Perlman and Rohan de Silva started doing (for comic relief) a pretty good impression of Victor Borge and Sahan Arzruni?

(Not that Perlman hasn't always kept a few choice musical puns "Haydn" in the "Bach" of his mind.)

That took me back to my music major days in the 70's.
There was a sign on the toilet.
    "please jiggle handel"
    Underneath someone had written,
"If I do; will it jiggle bach?"

Yesterday was interesting. As in the old Chinese curse, "May you live in interesting times."

The plan was to visit the USS Hornet, out at Alameda Point, then visit one or more of the museum ships at or near Fishermen's Wharf, and then to have dinner at the House of Prime Rib.

I was walking from the bus stop to the ship, and I hit a patch of rough pavement, almost recovered, and then fell flat on my face. Gave myself a fat lip, a scratched and bruised knee, and a skinned and badly bruised hand. I still managed to tour the Hornet, including two extra-cost docent tours. The second thing I said when I got to the admissions desk was "Have you got a first aid kit." Right after the traditional "Permission to come aboard."

Then, when I got back into SF, I decided I ought to have my hand looked at. So I took two buses to get to Kaiser. Urgent care was closing up for the night, so I spent the evening in the ER, waiting for those who were obviously in far worse shape to be seen.

Naturally, the prime rib dinner had left the country. And by the time I was back in North Beach, so had any chance of a chicken korma dinner at Kennedy's Curry House. So my prime rib dinner had morphed into a cold turkey sandwich, a string cheese, and an ultra-pasteurized milk, from the local 7-Eleven.

I had the chicken korma for lunch today, and I'm about to leave for the House of Prime Rib.

    Oh dear!
My parents loved the House of Prime Rib. They always went there for anniversaries. Hope you finally got yours.
    Is your hand okay?

I finally had my battery of tests and the results are all pretty good. Doc is still keeping an eye on my sodium. I brought it up but it is still a bit low.
Turns out I was drinking"excessive" water.
I didn't know you could do that. I mean, I know you can actually get water toxic but that takes gallons.
Anyway, by drinking more than needed I threw off my electrolytes. I am getting those back in balance. My kidney function is fine and that was the big concern.

Pretty hard to drink too much water.

Be that as it may, the x-rays confirmed that there were no broken bones, so they cleaned up the skinned spots a bit better than what I'd been able to do at the admissions desk on the Hornet, gave me an ice bag for the pain, swelling, and bruising, and sent me on my way.

Had my prime rib dinner Tuesday evening, and was given an unusually generous "second slice," so much so that I couldn't finish it. Knowing the Cable Cars currently shut down a tad early, I took the #49 bus back to the hotel (the Columbus Motor Inn, Columbus between Francisco and Houston, "right next to Bimbo's night club" as I always tell the cabbies). Also got to Kennedy's for lunch (chicken korma) that day.

Glad to hear you did not break your hand. My mother once made a misstep off a curb and broke her nose. It was New Year's Eve and she was hosting a party.
She did not realize until the guests were gone and she had taken off her wig that she had a huge bruise on her forehead.

Have you ever tried Tommy's Joint on Van Ness? Not fancy but best Buffalo Stew anywhere. (Well, I don't think I've ever actually had it anywhere else.)

I usually go to Tommy's Joynt (that's their spelling) for lunch on Sundays, after attending a service at St. Mark's Lutheran, but I went elsewhere this time. I find that the portion size at Tommy's is generally way too big, and the quality isn't as good as other places.

Sadly, Pompei's Grotto remains closed. Tourist-friendly without being the slightest bit touristy.

You are right about the spelling. LOL I had forgotten that. It has been years and I have only ever had the Buffalo Stew. My daughter and I tried to go in 2020 but it was closed due to Covid.
    Another favorite of ours was
    1200x0.jpg louis-restaurant-san-francisco-point-lobos.jpg
sadly past tense also due to Covid.
Very sad ending to a long time affordable alternative to the Cliff House.

Been there, too. The last time I visited the Cliff House, nothing on their menu had the slightest appeal to me, but Louis' had something.

I remember my first visit to the Cliff House. The only poultry dish they offered at the time was something they jokingly called "Succulent filet of seagull." Actually a boneless chicken breast cooked in a cream sauce. (I'm told that actual seagull is anything but succulent.)

That was our first experience as well. We were going to the Palace of Fine Arts to see Barrage. We had planned to spend a bundle on dinner but when we checked out the Cliff House menu; there was nothing we even wanted.
We walked on down to Louis' and had shrimp cocktails and seafood and the check was less than half of what TCH would have been. With much the same view. I am so sad it is gone.

We had dinner there with a bunch of LPers after a group visit to The Walt Disney Family Museum in 2010.

Only days after I got back, I came down with a really nasty chest cold. Nasty enough that I bought and used a home antigen test kit (decisively negative for COVID), and (after two really rough nights) I spent most of this afternoon in Kaiser Urgent Care. They swabbed me for strep and flu (both negative), gave me some prescription cough syrup and an inhaler (because the coughing fits left me struggling to draw breath), and then swabbed me again for COVID (results not yet posted). Jury is still out on whether the inhaler is doing me any good.

Sorry to hear that. I hope it passes soon.
We got our 4th shot on Friday. It has not been too bad but I did have to lie down this afternoon and crashed for two hours. I did feel much better after I woke up.

We will be leaving for WA Wednesday. Looking forward to seeing my grandchildren but I often pick up a virus when there. Hopefully I can skip that part this trip.

I felt good enough Saturday to go into the Museum for a couple of hours at the end of the day.

I felt good enough Sunday to go to the concert that night.

And at least now, I'm able to gack up the congestion when I cough.

Good you can enjoy (somewhat) the rest of your vacation.
    Sputum: better out than in.

We spent 16 hours on the road yesterday. Stopped for a baked potato at Wendy's and rice bowls at Panda Express on the way. I hate stopping for fast food but we needed food...fast.
Really not too bad. We have tried stopping for the night but it just seems to complicate things so we drive straight through. It works in the RV but not by car.
    Spent today waking up.

Tonight we get to experience live theater!
(Two of the grandkids have a school play.);)

But I will take my theater when and where I can get it.

What "rest of [my] vacation"? Vacation's been over for 2 weeks.

My dad appears to have my cold. And he's 87.

When I went home to check up on him, he surprised me by asking for a COVID test. Which is something I'd been planning on anyway, and if he'd objected, I'd have had him restrained. I picked one up immediately, along with a second one for me. He's negative, and so am I (my third negative COVID test since I got back from my vacation). Of course, he was fully vaccinated before I got my puppy shot, and he's doubly boosted.

I was not sure when you had gone back home. Guess I should have used past tense.

Had a very enjoyable 2 evenings watching our grandchildren in

All in good fun. These kids have an awesome coach and really went all out.

Hmm. "Outrageous Fortune." I'm assuming, given the apparent age of the cast, that it has nothing whatsoever to do with the Shelly Long/Bette Midler movie.
