A little Bing for Christmas (I know it's the Drifters) White Christmas, with Santa & his Reindeer - YouTube
The most expensive thing of the whole 12 days! We are in the midst of the Central Valley storm. The barnyard. My husband's workshop. And we are still in Washington! Our son is working to keep livestock safe.
Our son let us know today that the shed that took up residence next door in the last big storm; Found it's way home last night. He and all the animals made it to 2023
Okay, found this quite by accident on youtube. Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella with a very young Julie Andrews in the title role. Never really liked the R+H adaptation but we appreciated this classic version.
Got the DVD. Three quarters of a lifetime ago, my high school's drama dept. did the R&H. A girl upon whom I had an unrequited crush played one of the stepsisters.
Although I say I don't like that rendition (from watching the Leslie Ann Warren performance) I seem to know the lyrics to all the songs. Holy Cow! How much rain can we handle? We have to cancel family plans for a trip to Monterey this weekend
My DVD is the Julie Andrews performance. I'm not sure whether I have the Lesley Ann Warren performance or not. Although I liked her in season 5 of Mission:Impossible, and I liked her in Victor/Victoria (playing opposite Julie Andrews!).
I love everybody in V/V. I have it on a bootleg VHS my mom made for me. One of the "treasures" we found clearing out my mother-in-law's house was a mint in box VCR!
And the rain continues!! We now have a sump pump to keep the barn relatively dry. The goats are grateful Today we lost power for hours. Not because of the horrible weather but because some dimwit hit a power pole. Since we have accumulated decades of camping equipment; we have plenty of lanterns, stoves and even a propane heater to get us through such times. More precip coming but should start drying out Tuesday.
Life Stinks may be the only Mel Brooks movie I haven't seen. I even saw The Twelve Chairs. Didn't like it. Seemed like a Benny Hill sketch stretched to feature length.
It's the kind of story you want to be true. Rain came down in buckets last night. So of course a doe decided to drop babies. Everything in barn flooded except the hay room so mama, babies and 5 other goats are crowded in there along with a 30lb turkey. Made me wonder about Noah's family in the ark.
That happens a lot along with confusing does the goats and does the verb. At least the rain let up for today and all are warm and dry. Turkey Lurkey curled up under the heat lamp with the babies last night and singed off a few feathers. Other than that; everyone is fine.
Last night, I didn't get much sleep. The entire contents of the E: volume on my DOS/Linux dual-boot tower were being replicated on my new DOSbook. Through a LapLink cable. I started it at 6:30 PM. It didn't end until about 3 AM. Computer fan noise and excitement over the prospect of finally being able to give the DOSbook the "acid test" (will Xerox Ventura Publisher run on it?) kept me awake. And Xerox Ventura Publisher does indeed run on it.
