I know it makes no sense. Springfield has a very high crime rate for a city of its size, and less than 3% of the population is Black. My brain tells me they can't be the ones committing all the crimes. But my subconscious makes me worry anyway. That is racism.

RT, any idea what's driving this, other than the usual suspect of low job prospects? Does Springfield have an inordinate number of meth lab operations relative to other mid-west towns?

Here, Vox takes down Megyn Kelly with some basic statistical facts:

    1) Black people are disproportionately incarcerated

    2) White and black Americans use and sell drugs, but black people are punished far more for it

    3) Black defendants get longer prison sentences for the same crimes

    4) Mandatory minimum sentences disproportionately punish African Americans

    5) Black people are a lot more likely to receive the death penalty

    6) Police are more likely to shoot and kill black suspects

    7) Research shows police — and the general public — hold subconscious biases against black people

Good to know you think it's fair that black people are more harshly punished for being suspected of the same crimes as white people.
