    So did most Americans. You can't live in the past. To do so disparages the wonderful actions taken by Pope Francis.

    True, you should learn from it. And for the most part both this country and Christian religions have. If you are always going to be doomed for past actions, why try to change?

    And kudos to the church for bending with the times and being somewhat reasonable in their worldview.
    But it is just this bending that shows the flaws of the original doctrine.
    A supposedly perfect book that needs constant revision, and the willful ignorance of multiple passages in order to conform with the modern world.
    Still, I will take that over the sheer madness of Islam any day.
    But in the end they are all still man made religions.

    Isn't the church supposed to represent timeless moral truths, instead of the prevailing morality of the time?
