I hate seeing that empty track....it breaks my heart avery time...

I'll admit, Rocket Rod's technical problems didn't help anything, but people still went back again and again. I remember seeing a lot of people come off of that ride smiling. I don't believe it was unpopular at all; I believe it unfortunately was the easy place for everyone who hated TL98 to point and complain about what went wrong. When they started running away from the TL98 ideas, that's when it suddenly became cool to trash the rods.

Bottom line, all I'm saying is that the Rocket Rods have been blown up into a much bigger "disappointment" than they actually were.

The #23 post YouTube video was heard wrenching not just for those who miss the Skyway, but PeopleMover and Rocket Jets, too. Sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh, sigh.

So many wonderful memories for this child of the '60s, too. Having visited regularly both before and after 1967, I distinctly remember the 'hunger pangs' for the PeopleMover (Disneyland did an awesome PR job back in those days, too. :) And I remember the disappointment I experienced when we arrived that morning in 1967... not long after the "New" Tomorrowland opened... full of anticipation... to find that both the PM and Pirates were having birthing pains. They never opened that day. Thankfully, we came back again... and again... and again. ;-)
