I think it fell flat: it didn't have the effect it was designed to have, but I also think it went completely unnoticed except for those of us on the lookout for zingers, so it had no negative effect.

Following social media and punditry, the universal agreement is that Obama is now a smoking crater and Romney made Reagan look like Quayle. I don't think it was quite that bad, but I was a bit surprised at how many openings the President passed by, because Romney sure didn't. Oh, and Romney's a freaking liar. Obama went for nuance, Romney for style.

It worked with the base and maybe nationally but it will not work in the swing states. That is all that matters now.
