That's what this is truly about, when you drill down to the core of politics in this nation.

This is about the aging white guys dying off and their abject fear of losing control.

They don't want to lose control. And they're willing to do ANYTHING to keep it.

That's what Romney represents: keeping control AT ALL COSTS.

Which means lying, cheating, withholding information, lying, spinning, flip-flopping, lying so more... whatever it takes to win.

And nothing -- NOTHING -- any Romney supporter can say at this point, can convince me otherwise.

Not until I can see Romney's political rallies as diverse as Obama's rallies, without the intervention of PhotoShop.

Since when do "foot soldiers" have "quite a bit of responsibility?" They're pawns.

It really doesn't take a lot of searching for that. Just go back to what other Republicans said about him in the primaries.

Let's say his accomplishments are minimal, despite killing bin Laden, stopping the economic slide, getting us out of one war, on schedule to leave a second, and passing universal health care. How the hell does that rationalize supporting a guy who lies and distorts more than anyone since Nixon?

I see no bravery in the man, no honesty or sincerity toward all Americans, just a slavish devotion to the big money Republican concept.
It really is a pity that so many people refuse to see through this android of a man.

Good so far but we're not even close to being out of the woods.

<<getting us out of one war, on schedule to leave a second>>
    Both good

    <<and passing universal health care.>>

Noble but I'm still skeptical if it can be done.

But I just laugh at the idea that there's some secret "old white man cabal" that will do anything to keep power. That's a little to tinfoil hat for me.

That presupposes he had integrity and honor to begin with. And I don't see that.

We all know that when he ran for senate in MA in the 90's he said he was staunchly pro-choice, and that he'd be better on gay rights than Ted Kennedy.

Now it's one thing to change your views on issues over time. That doesn't bother me per se - it's better if it's over years rather than 2 weeks or 2 months later (or even 24 hours in the case of the Ohio union-stripping bill), but set that aside for now.

But ask yourself this: does anyone here think Romney would have taken those same positions on choice and gay rights in the SAME year (90's) if he'd been running for governor of Utah, rather than governor of Massachusetts?

    I don't.

I think he said those things to try to get elected in MA. And that if he'd run in Utah the very same year, he'd have set an entirely different set of things.

He says whatever he thinks he needs to say to any particular audience, at the particular time he's addressing them. That equals no integrity.

Oh it's really not tinfoil hat at all. For a start, just look at the Koch brothers.
