Now this is funny -- of course they are saving that for their new idea of character dinners everywhere else.

Well, just another place I can scratch off my dining checklist for good.

They should just make every location a chracter locale, so then they wouldn't have to worry about getting another cent from an oldtimer like myself who remembers when there were no chracter meals and you didn't have to pay $33.99 a person to meet and get your picture taken with a character. Oh, and you could actually dine at King Stephan's for the magic of dining in the castle itself, not for the hype of the experience.

I'm sure it will be a huge hit with WDW's new target audience, though.

Kudos to Phil Holmes, Al Weiss and the head of WDW food and beverage Dieter 'I'm way too good to ever eat this crap myself' Hannig (sp?).

Kudos indeed for giving the guest the Magical experience that they want and not forcing guest to experience what WDW management belives to be Magical. Although in most situations they are the same.

Great more room for those guest that will really appreciate the experience.

That may be your attitude however $150 for a family of 4 for less than spectacular food ( and spare me the sales on this) - is outrageosu, and I spend with no limit when I am there. For those on a budget you just put this place out of reach. That is NOT magical.

If this continues elsewhere they will hurt the dining business there, which I readily admit I really enjoy overall....I have not problem spending $150 for 4 to dine- but then it better be Cali grill level food, and the food at Cindy's is not.

the elitist attitude you take above is surely not what management will want in the long run.....

I thought vbdad55 that your opinion was that WDW was cheapened by making a vacation to the World affordable for anyone with the value resorts etc. Thus alowing in the walmart crowd. So why complain when they price some guest out. I think everyone could afford it, they would just have to save if it something that they wanted to do. I see no problem with making dining in the castle special and pricing it accordingly. This would make dining in the castle even more special and Magical. I agree that the food has to improve a bit but a another poster said they had a wonderful meal there just recently so maybe it has.

go back and re read -- you have me confuded with another poster on the cheapening of WDW. I was for the All Star's ( but not in excess) - pro DVC.

I am against plush toys in every store, and pins on every open space in sight- yes, also against the cheap Pooh playground that is an insult to Fantasyland, and poor rehabs of Alien Encounter to Stitch and JII 3 -- yes absolutely.

Nowhere did I ever state that you should have to be rich to attend WDW. Ther are varying levels of experiences. I am fortunate enough that I can afford what I would like to do, but many people aren;t so fortunate.

I would have no problem if they made 1 meal at the castle like the experience they now have -- but by doing all meals that way- you in effect close off the castle as a dining option for many people.

And please, if you think every family can afford a WDW vacation with treats like this option at the castle, regardless of how much they save, you need to put down that Disney kool-aid my friend. It just is not so.

So the Walmarting expression you seem to recall is based on the cheapening of attractions and shows ( i.e. Main Street USA) - not on the cost of media.

So to me this all or nothing dining does not make it more magical and special, it makes a central icon elitist.

Not only is it closed off to some for monetary reasons, but also to those that would like a more quiet, uninterrupted lunch or dinner. I agree with you vbdad, it would be so much better if they offered both options at CRT like they currently do: Princess Breakfast and the regular lunch and dinner menus.

I don't agree with this. Money doesn't make things "magical". I've never been to a Disney park and though, "Gee, I paid so much money for this, it must be extra magical!". It's the experience itself, not the cost. At the prices they are going to charge, it really does price a lot of people out of eating in the castle. If people are saving up for this once in a lifetime vacation, how much do you want to bet they aren't planning on eating a $150 meal. That money would be put to better use in other areas of their vacation. I know I wouldn't want to waste that money on an expensive character meal like that; I would find another alternative, and maybe use that money to buy my kids some souvenirs.

I would guess that the "Wal-Mart crowd" are the type of guests who would believe the hype of the experience over the reality and spend their money or credit whether or not it was a truly quality experience.
