We all expect slow downs and waits in que for the rides. I don't think the adverage guest figures its going to be a 20 to 30 minute process to initially get into the parks.

Just to reiterate, TDLFAN spent a horrifying 5 minutes waiting at the parking lot gate, and a mind-blowing TWELVE minutes waiting at the front gate. As waits go, that's not that bad.

But I agree that they should always keep the no bags entry open. I hate waiting behind the bag check folks when I'm carrying nothing.

I think as technology has gotten people used to "right now," and our tolerance for waiting for anything has dropped. Five minutes of waiting is different than it was 20, 30, 50 years ago.

Remember its not the consumers setting up the barriors for entry. Its the company setting unrealistic barriors for entry into the premise.

As TDLFAN would say "Bad Show".

Too bad I didn't have my camera with me to "show" you what the lines looked like... maybe you would agree with me to a certain degree. Mind you, I have the patience of a saint (4 hours in line for Hunny Hunt on opening day..) but the situation at EPCOT was ridiculous that day. Seems like some of you should go back, re-read my post and refresh yourself with the points I brought up.

As for "strip searches"... they are fun. Given the right TSA employee doing the honors... I can think of that blond stud TSA agent at... never mind.

That is example A of why WDW bag searches are ridiculous and only make ignorant guests feel secure. It's amazing to me how easy the taking away of our basic freedoms has gone under the guise of getting the evildoers (God, do the idiots who use that term realize how absurd it sounds?).

What did Ben Franklin say about if we take away our freedoms to be safe, then we won't be either (that's the gist of it, I can't remember the exact quote)?

If anyone thinks they're safer then they were in 2001, they're living in Pooh's Playground in Fantasyland. We're less safe than we've ever been because every nut in the world now realizes how inept our security truly is and that they can basically do whatever they want.

Anyone want to talk about how the MK is falling apart?

I thought it if you give up freedoms to ensure safety, you deserve neither... something like that.

    Ah, here we go!

"They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety."

What if they were fully staffed, but the crowd was such that it would still take those same five and 12 minutes of waiting? Do you blame all the other guests for showing up?

The last time I went to DL, I stood at at the ticket booth with my sister while she bought a pass using a coupon from a case of soda. We stood there for 25 minutes while the CM behind the counter tried to process the transaction. A supervisor came, but didn't seem to help the situation. So I know what it's like to wait and feel a bit anxious about it. At the time it was a bit frustrating, but as I stood there I thought how bad the CM must feel about too. I decided I wouldn't let my day be ruin by having waited there.

I am not trying to excuse having too little staff. But it happens all the time, everywhere, and I am sure it happened at DL and WDW in the past too. Life just isn't perfect all the time.

But does it make any more sense to fully staff a position only to have workers standing around during the slow times? I've found that a crowd can show up at any time of the day, so there will be times when there aren't enough turnstiles open. But it makes no sense to keep all of them open, just in case a crowd shows up.

I don't know what the perfect balance is for Disney, but (sorry TDLFAN) a 12 minute wait doesn't seem like a horrible experience.

From what I have read, woman are the #1 "target" for searches, and the more "innocent" looking you are, the more likely it is you'll trigger a response from security.
