    That is usually not the official reaction by the department. By the cops, yes. Cops tend to live in a very closed society. I don't personally know any, but know women married to them. They rarely socialize with people who aren't fellow cops and generally have few friends outside of the department. They are often not just defending a co-worker, but a good friend. That doesn't make it acceptable but perhaps makes it somewhat more understandable.

    That is a very problematic statement. It certainly explains why they see EVERYONE as the enemy.

    Oh well, we now live in a near totalitarian "comply or die" society.

    Stalin would have been proud and somewhere Nikita Khrushchev is laughing his head off, for we indeed have been "buried" and are no longer a free people.

    I think that is very true. Any group that remains as isolated as they do does not get a "normal" view of society. In ways it is like being part of a cult.

    Is it just me, or do the majority of police seem rather on the conservative side?
