And if you would rather not explain it to me, explain it to a female you know.

I will admit, however, as one who does really enjoy it and just about all of the people here, regardless of their politics, that it's kind of weird when people just show up to tell us how lousy we all are. Every once in a while, someone will pop in and insist on prefacing whatever they have to say with, "I make it a rule not to post in this section, BUT..." Well thank you so much for deigning to sully yourself by supping with us lowlifes to grace us with your fair wisdom. On occasion these comments show up in other sections as well. "I just ignore all that happens in WE's!" That's just fine, like I said it's not everyone's thing. But spare us the righteous outrage. To those of us who participate, these are important issues (and as much as I love Disney, Iraq, the economy, etc., are more important). If being passionate and opinionated on topics that are important to us is arrogant, so be it.

I’m perfectly willing to accept that people here enjoy being called idiots and I thought my post was reasonable… (so what’s the harm… Eh?). Your reply wasn’t entirely idiotic and I assume you were just being “funny.” I have to guess that your favorite fictional dwarf is “unsuitable.” You know, the one whose hat is two sizes too large.

While those of us already in the spa are ask “What’s the big deal?” I just think we need to be more patient with those not accustomed to this place. Just my 2 cents.

Just calm down there, Sparky.<< Nope, it's not the message I got at all from your post. It was an overall response to what several people have done from time to time. So I'm plenty calm, and not even a little bit angry. But thanks for the smarmy reply, anyhow. Plenty of us use individual posts to make larger observations about the goings on here or in the world. It doesn't mean we're all talking about you. So while you might think I need to calm down, I think you need to get over yourself a bit. Or a lot.

Or is that too smarmy? >>>"So while you might think I need to calm down, I think you need to get over yourself a bit. Or a lot."<<< Yes, you are SO right! Every time someone refers to my political predilection as idiocy I should simply slap myself in the face and scream; “Hey… Get over yourself” I’m sure that’s what everyone else does here on the WE board. C’mon, THIS is the WE, you can take it… You’re a regular here, you’re fine with SPP calling McCain/Palin supporter’s “idiots.” Are you not? Or is it just the opposing political views of relative newcomers using horrendous words like “arrogant” that offends you so. So much that you falsely accuse them of “righteous outrage.” Not angrily, of course… but in a happy-go-lucky sort-of-way. Yeah, you’re right, I’m as smarmy as all get out!
Originally Posted By dshyates "Is smarmy a bad thing here on the WE board?" "Bad" isn't the word I would use. "Required" is more appropriate. Anywho, Welcome to WE talaner. Things get heated, but it looks like you can hold your own. I hope you stick it out here and can accept our little corner of "friendly hostility" that Doobie has let us have. Us "Libs" are a little over represented here so you provide balance............or cannon fodder. But go ahead and feel free to express your opinion, but expect us to do the same. Now back to Palin/McSame. I can list several reasons why voting GOP is idiotic: 1. The GOP has darned near bankrupted the country with corruption and greed. 2. The GOP lied to take us to war for the profits of private corps. In other words killing for profit. I don't know how you feel about that but to me that is EVIL beyond compare. 3. McCain is aligned with Pres. Bush on 90% of the issues. And did I mention that Bush has brought the country to its knees. 4 more years of knee-jerk deregulation and we will all be at the soup kitchen. I already have 2 family members that have in the past year moved to Southeast Asia because they are convinced that W. has done so much damage that the course is set in stone and we are headed into a bread-line style depression. Watching the news this past weeks makes me think they may be right. I have considered joining them if McCain wins. 4. Sen. McCain has picked Sarah Palin as his VP. I believe the irresponsibility there is obvious and dangerous. There is NOTHING these guys won't say or do to win. Just so they can continue feeding the fat cats.

Which is fine with me, but I'm thinking the guy is jumping in just a bit too comfortably and easily to be just some new guy. Sock puppet alert, folks. ***I already have 2 family members that have in the past year moved to Southeast Asia because they are convinced that W. has done so much damage that the course is set in stone and we are headed into a bread-line style depression.*** Where exactly in Southeast Asia? And why would they be spared a depression? I'm thinking a depression will affect pretty much everyone, save perhaps China and other communist regimes (if history holds).

Best wishes to your fam though! Hope things go well (500k sounds like it's going pretty well though! nice!).

I would presume whoever "talaner" is, this person saw it, because there were detailed responses to others here. Doug and Dug don't respond, talaner doesn't respond, although both Dug and talaner use the word "noted". The rape/abortion issue is of paramount importance. It gives a window into every other part of Palin's thought processes, without making too much of a comment on whether she really has any thought processes. I've said it many times now, but if she wasn't such an ideologue on the abortion issue, I wouldn't be as aggressive as I have been. When I mentioned to RT and others about ignoring the distinctions being made, that's what I'm talking about. But the abortion issue aside, it is abundantly clear Palin has no business whatsoever being part of this process. Palin supporters can't just marginalize her by saying "she'll only be the VP." That's simply not going to fly, no way, no how, and what kind of support is that? Then why her, if that's the case? Why not Lieberman? Romney? Pawlenty? Or even Schwarzenegger, for crying out loud, because if McCain is going to be elected and stay in office for two full terms, what does it matter, since Schwarzenegger couldn't assume the presidency anyway due to his Austrian birth? It's comical to me to see people take offense at being called an idiot if they support this ticket, when they can't respond to some core questions about it. Because I'm not trying to grsndstand here, be sensational or any other type of thing. I truly cannot fathom how intelligent people can support the Republican ticket as long as she's on it. Are people really that much slaves to ideology at the expense of such an extremist view?
