The biggest example would be the New Fantasyland project at MK, which was redone to remove the elaborate princess meet & greets and replaced them with the Mine Train. When the announcement was made at the D23 convention, you could hear the excitement get sucked out of the room the moment they started talking about the M&G experiences. After the announcement, the online comments only reinforced the initial reaction Additionally, the Toy Story musical that was set to replace Aladdin at DCA was cancelled, supposedly due to public outcry. And most recently, they're adding the Hatbox Ghost to the Haunted Mansion, despite the vast majority of guests having no idea of his history But I agree that in general, Disney's going to do whatever Disney wants to do. If the online communities like it, that's just icing on the cake for them >>I think the classic example of that is Mission Space at Epcot. Although that came after the attraction opened, not before... the constant hammering it took in Social Media kept it from ever becoming as popular as it deserves to be.<< I'm not sure M:S's reputation is because of Social Media; I'd pin that on traditional media, which had national coverage of the attraction when there were 2 fatalities on it within about 18 months of its opening. For most people, that was their first introduction to the ride, rather than seeing it in a glitzy national ad campaign (from what I remember, it's advertisements were mostly online, since Compaq was the sponsor) or experiencing it themselves In that framework, it's easy to see why it keeps that reputation for some people. Despite having been on it countless times before (and after) the accident, and despite the entire attraction being rebuilt a couple years ago, I still tense up on DL's Big Thunder when the train enters the cave at the bottom of the second lift hill. I can certainly understand why M:S has a similar connotation for a lot of people

WDW74 is a longtime passholder at WDW is actually Jim Hill, they both started the Disneyland's Toontown will be destroyed and made into SWLand after changes made in MK. Jim Hill (as WDW74) talked up a storm about Carsland coming to DHS, even though we all knew it wouldn't happen. He's a fan, not somebody who works for Disney . . . anyway, Dusty Sage backed up Jim Hill's bogus Carsland in DHS rumor, and the sites are trying to beef up respect for fans who "report" bogus rumors.
