Personally I like the nine year old Miceage rumor that the flying saucers will be put in Innoventions with a Buzz Lightyear theme and lots of black lights. But I think the "temporary" museum is much more likely.

At least with Captain EO, if it didn't have the 3D, the musical numbers are entertaining. As a film-based attraction, for me it is/was the worst one in EPCOT.

Did you read the recent article where Russell Crowe said that Michael Jackson used to prank phone call him over the period of two or three years? Using juvenile jokes along the lines of "Is there a Mr Wall there? or a Mrs Wall? Then what's keeping the ceilings up?!" Michael Jackson really was bonkers.

They just announced that the 'new' Disneyland Band would be debuting on July 17, even though the 60th promotion begins on May 22; I wouldn't be surprised if some other smaller things trickled out after the event officially kicked off I'm actually surprised that the castle decorations are so far along already. For the 50th, they waited to install the additions until overnight hours the day before the event began. I assume there must be some special lighting that needs to be programmed, which is why they got a head start this time; it seems like the "snow" at Christmas always takes a while to get setup because of that same reason. I don't think any of the other decorations for the 50th ('hidden' 50-Mickeys, photo-mosaics, etc) began to appear until a week or two before everything began. It's hard to build buzz when there aren't any visible changes, but I expect they're working on it backstage
Originally Posted By Dr Hans Reinhardt "It's hard to build buzz when there aren't any visible changes, but I expect they're working on it backstage" I guess I'm thinking of the previous events (before the 50th) when they gave away big prizes for guests at the gate, launched huge daytime parades (Pardi Gras Parade - it's Disneyland BIG!), special anniversary stage shows, tons of coverage all year long in the media, and televised star-studded TV specials. This time around it feels like they're just going through the motions and directing the promotion to die-hard fans and locals. Maybe once it's all in motion it'll feel more in line with previous birthdays, but to me it seems like they've been dragging this launch since January.
Originally Posted By FerretAfros I agree that it feels like they've been dragging the announcements, especially since they had the non-announcement on July 17 last year and the non-event press event in January But even with the old promotions of the past, how much hype did they do before they began? I wasn't anywhere near soCal, so I never saw ads for them, but I would be surprised if they started running ads several months before the stuff in the park actually happened. I'm sure we'll get the usual line-up of Disney celebs and various ads once everything is up and running, but it's just hard to do that before anything has been rehearsed yet
