Ahhhhh memories. My very first trip to the Disneyland Resort was during the 50th Anniversary celebrations. I had no prior knowledge of Disneyland before that trip.

We saw the walls up around the Subs, had no idea what was being built or what the Subs even were. My son wasn't born yet, and my daughter was only 2 1/2. Ten whole years ago that was almost!

    Ooops.

I'm going to be honest and admit that I don't follow current DL event dates closely. I mistakenly assumed it had started because of the media kickoff event in January.

Or ... what are the odds that after the 60th Innoventions is likely to be the spot for a new ride, that actually fits the the theme of the land?!!

Don't forget ... 'ours truly' (Bobby Iger) said he wants Star Wars to have a big presence in the DLR. I doubt he meant 1 ride.

No, he said that Star Wars would have a big presence at the Disney parks, as in more than one park. He never specified which ones. And anyway, I would think that the space in Toontown, for several reasons would not be able to support several rides either, even with the addition of the Big Thunder Ranch thrown in.

Coincidentally, it's the same date the 'Tomorrowland' film opens in theaters.

    Or is it a coincidence?

This is just my guess, but maybe they'll do something Star Wars-related with it after the 60th is over. Or maybe even before the 60th is over. Throw in the Autopia/Submarines area and you have a good chunk right there.

I don't think Star Wars will be that big a deal at Disneyland.

I suspect they will let the 50th run its course, and then, based on the success of the new film, start with the conversion of one (or more) of these attractions.

As much as I don't care for the Subs or Autopia, I just cannot see them being removed. There is too much nostalgia there, and besides, the areas listed above are in more need of help than either the Subs or Autopia.

As valuable and beloved as the franchise is the presence should at least be as big as Cars is at DCA.

I would agree with that. I just don't see it being as massive as some people expect.
