I doubt that there were very many people that would have voted for Obama but switched to McCain because of Palin being on the ticket. There certainly were some that went the opposite way - several of which I know just from LP and my circle of acquaintances. I think the only thing that Palin managed to do is cause a certain segment of voter to vote for McCain that otherwise would have not voted in the election, but it's my belief that this was outweighed by those that did the opposite (i.e. didn't vote because of Palin) or switched to Obama as a result.
