I'd so much rather eat at Boma and Le Cellier and some of the other places I've chosen than to take a chance on the Sci Fi. Not many people on this thread gave it glowing reviews. Here are a few quotes: <<I feel the food at the Sci-Fi has improved significantly in recent years. It is still a place where you go more for the atmosphere than the food, but the food isn't that bad.>> <<I had the grilled chicken salad. Other members of my party had the steak and we all thought the food was good. We all thought the food was much better than what is typically served at the food courts back at the resorts. Sure your going to find a better selection on the menu's at some of the other restaurants at MGM. But its a fun place to eat and the food is good, maybe just not memorable.>> <<See now we've been there probably 10 times in the last 20 years and I have never found the food terrible. This is a different kind of sit down meal though -- as the best items there are the burgers ( very good) - the milk shakes are very good, and the sleeper is a vegetarian chili ( Walt's favorite recipe) -that is excellent. Those are the types of things to order ( oh yeah and the fries are pretty good too ) --- the whole family enjoys it-- it is definitely a lunch vs dinner place though IMHO>> <<I agree it is a lunch type of place for us. We also have never had bad food there but we also order burgers, etc. I've never really thought of it as anything else but a burger joint with some really fun extras.>> I'm hard pressed, even on this thread, to find someone that said the food was amazing, as well as the atmosphere. For most of you, the food was decent, nothing to rave about, but not bad, and the atmosphere was great. I'd rather eat somewhere that I know most people her on LP love. Plus, I think being on the dining plan is swaying me. If you could get a meal at Sci Fi, or a meal at Le Cellier, which would you choose? If you had to pay and were on a budget, most would choose Sci Fi. If you don't have to pay, I think it's a no brainer.

You can't compare the rating of a counter service to the rating of a full service. That'd be like trying to compare Victoria and Albert's to Boma. They are completely different experiences.

If you were looking specifically for a table service restaurant at the MGM Studios, I would go with the Sci Fi. Although the Brown Derby is wonderful I don't think it is worth TWO dinner tickets. I also much prefer Sci Fi to either Mama Melrose or Prime Time, so for me there would be no question. It all comes down to personal taste (doesn’t it always?)… some like Sci Fi, some don’t. If you don’t think you’d like it I agree you should go elsewhere.

This process of picking places to dine has been like torture. LOL With so many good places, it was really hard narrowing it down. I had a thread going in the dining section about it....

I'll be having the chicken. heh Really looking forward to my first visits to Marrakesh & Wolfgang Puck, and I know Eric will LOVE LTT, and pretty sure he'll have a ball at HDD as well.
