That's simply not how the Disney theme park/resort model is seen by the masses.

Someone earlier pointed out DCA. But let's go to O-Town ... where Disney is most successful with multiple gates.

EPCOT can certainly stand on its own. Yet it will never be as popular as the stale, neglected and poorly maintained MK because for most people 'Disney World' is the MK. Just like DLR is DL. And TDR is TDL.

The other gates no matter how enjoyable (and I enjoy them all from my favorites EPCOT and DAK to yes, even DCA and DSP) are after-thoughts. Extras might be a better term.

It's the MK concept that brings people to a resort. Forget that DAK is many times the quality park of the MK ... it'll never approach it in popularity or attendance (even with the funny numbers game played by Inoverherheadmeg and her 'leadership' team)!

Of course, since they pretty much broke the mold when they made Epcot, I don't think that would've been particularly fair...BUT, if the parks with the castles had been more expensive from the get-go, as a matter of course, I wonder if that would've evened things out. Got people interested in checking out the new stuff if only to save a few bucks, and all that.

    Guess we'll never know.
