I thought everyone knew the internet rumor that Obama was a Muslim was a lie. A lie just like the one Republicans spread in the 2000 primary in South Carolina about McCain having a black child. If there's anyone out that that doesn't know that it's a lie, here's the link to FactCheck on it completely debunking the whole thing: http://www.factcheck.org/elect...ama.html If, after actually researching it objectively, a person *still* chooses to believe that Obama is a Muslim, I don't even know what to say.

Do the people who get worried about Obama being Muslim think that he would be instantly aligned with Islamic terrorists if he were a Muslim? Is Kareem Abdul Jabbar a terrorist sympathizer? I ask only because I thought we had freedom of religion in this country. And yet, I'm not sure which is worse -- the constant "charges" that Obama is Muslim, or the constant need to "defend" against those charges. Both say an awful lot about who we are as a people, a lot about how people view religions different than their own, and it really isn't good.

We've heard over and over the last 8 years about how President Bush is an idiot because he misspeaks. Truth is, lots of smart people occasionally misspeak, especially when they are speaking alot.

Originally Posted By DouglasDubh <Let's not pretend that Senator McCain wasn't maligned like crazy in the 2000 campaign.> Exit polls showed that most South Carolinians thought the McCain campaign threw more mud than the Bush campaign did.

Bull. Total, unmitigated bull. He posted it to plant the seed that Obama's a muslim. Period.

Oh? http://www.boston.com/news/pol...ampaign/ "Having run Senator John McCain's campaign for president, I can recount a textbook example of a smear made against McCain in South Carolina during the 2000 presidential primary. We had just swept into the state from New Hampshire, where we had racked up a shocking, 19-point win over the heavily favored George W. Bush. What followed was a primary campaign that would make history for its negativity. In South Carolina, Bush Republicans were facing an opponent who was popular for his straight talk and Vietnam war record. They knew that if McCain won in South Carolina, he would likely win the nomination. With few substantive differences between Bush and McCain, the campaign was bound to turn personal. The situation was ripe for a smear."

There's years of evidence in the archives of these boards that he routinely posts things with the sole purpose of making democrats look bad. It is absolutely undeniable. Not even he denies it. But thanks for the predictable response.

Makes me shudder to think of what Obama will be reduced to in 8 years (or 16, once Pres Palin gets her two terms in), since slander and filth seems to be the only effective ticket to the White House these days.
