I'm pretty sure I said that I thought the pig ad was stupid. I also think I said something about similar at one point about the education ad, although I disagreed that it was a "despicable lie".

I wish all of Sen McCain's ads were beyond reproach, and stuck to a positive message, but I also see that the other side is no better.

Or he won because it wasn't.

Actually, you spent the first half of that thread defending the ad with semantics, quoting part of the bill in question while leaving out the context of the rest of the bill. When queenbee and others hammered home how misleading this was, you muttered something about it not being the best ad. Whoopie.

<I wish all of Sen McCain's ads were beyond reproach, and stuck to a positive message, but I also see that the other side is no better.>

All the middle of the road fact-check type groups I've seen so far have said McCain's ads have been more negative than Obama's so far, and to my knowledge have found no particular ad as egregious as McCain's sex ad spot. Obama's supposedly going to start going more negative, so this may change - but not so far.

<<Bush won, and people rarely admit their guy's campaign was dirtier that the other guy's.>>

<Or he won because it wasn't.>

Perhaps you could show examples of McCain's dirty campaigning from SC in 2000, Mr. "if you can't show me exactly what I ask for right this minute, it didn't happen, despite what the campaign manager himself said four years later in a carefully crafted piece."

You're right. My apologies. I hope moving forward both sides can do better at pointing out when their side goes too far.

    >>I wish all of Sen McCain's ads were beyond reproach, and stuck to a positive message, but I also see that the other side is no better.<<

It disappoints me in McCain especially because, you know, his speech to the RNC is the sort of thing that makes me remember the McCain I once voted for.

He did a decent thing when Obama got his nomination and took a moment to congratulate him for it. They both put things aside on 9/11.

It's a sad statement, though, that those sorts of things don't win many political points, so it's right back to the mud slinging and the snarky comments from both sides.

    Karl Rove did, though.

Pretty damning evidence of the unflinching bias of LP right wingers if you ask me.

First I've heard...but I agree with you and I'm glad to hear you admit it.

McCain, win or lose, is certainly tarnishing his own good name these days which is a real pity imho.

I created four threads for that very purpose, but so far no LP right wingers have contributed. I hope to hear from them.

Have you tried looking for them? I usually try to find things myself first, and then question people when the evidence doesn't match their assertions.

Wow-ee. In the first piece, a Bush surrogate accuses McCain of running a negative campaign, and a McCain surrogate accuses Bush of running a negative campaign. Stop the presses.

In the second piece, Bush himself accuses McCain of running a negative campaign, and vice versa. Stop 'em again.

But note, that neither piece shows any evidence of a DIRTY campaign by McCain in 2000, which is what I asked for, and which SOMEONE interested in electing Bush certainly did in 2000. Campaigns accuse each other of negativity all the time, as one man's negative ad is another man's "comparison spot." You'll have to do better than this.
