Minneapolis is worried that fewer people are going downtown and have done surveys to find out why. No one is staying away from downtown because they are afraid of getting murdered. That is a long shot and probably not going to happen unless you are a drug dealer. They complain about graffiti. They complain about public drunkenness. They complain about being panhandled for money. They complain about being solicited for sex. They complain about all the ‘nuisance’ crimes that make their night out downtown a pain in the ass rather than a pleasure. You may say that these are minor crimes, that they are victimless crimes. But if they negatively impact the 'livability' of a city aren't they worth some police effort? If we want Minneapolis, a gorgeous and largely clean city to stay that way, these crimes need to be sought out and prosecuted. The Twin Cities have great shopping and entertainment in the suburbs. If people don't feel safe downtown they will go there instead. Then downtown Minneapolis becomes another Newark or Detroit. These 'minor' crimes DO make a difference. I, for one, am glad that the cops are finally doing something about it.

Why do you keep insisting that I am. If you've never been through an interrogation, then you possess no basis whatsoever for the the criticism you've let here. If, through the anonymity of the Internet you've decided you like very few posters here on LP, consider this your invitation/demand to stop posting here.

That's like saying a lawyer can't possibly represent criminals and their interests in prison unless he/she has done time. An assinine statement, but obviously you've reached your boiling point and are shaking your fist at your machine. Internet threats are so amusing.

Wow. I called you what I did because you're being stubborn for the sake of being stubborn. A few people that know more about this than you have corrected you and informed you why you're wrong, but you keep hammering away. It's not at all unlike reading about George W. Bush. Who knew you had so much in common with him.
