Here's something that just occured to me.

If there is a cop, sitting in a crapper (sounds like a fun assignment, huh?), waiting for some pervert to hit on him...isn't that some form of entrapment?

From what I read, it seems that this guy (and I've no doubt he's gay, and probably a very sad individual if he's anti-gay in "real life"), didn't actually DO anything criminal except for what the cop assumed was "bad".

I read he tapped his foot and moved his hand or something, right?

    (which he denies, but anyway...)

What, exactly, is criminal about THAT?

(this brings out the libertarian in me...cops have WAY too much discretion on what they THINK is "bad"...that's what I'm saying I guess)

But I hate cops anyway, so I'm probably biased. The guy probably came on to the cop directly but the cop was too kind to mention that in the report, right?

Why would anyone who did nothing illegal do otherwise? ESPECIALLY a freakin SENATOR, who could probably have the cop busted down to dogcatcher in a second if it was a "false arrest" sort of deal.

So we're to believe that it's just his dumb luck to be in an infamously 'cruisy' restroom - thousands of miles from his home - so infamous that the police actually have an undercover cop stationed in the stall at the time of his visit - and to have this "misunderstanding" with his peeking through the crack in the stall, his 'wide stance' and his sticking his hands and feet underneath the wall.

And then he's arrested, has mug shots taken, is fingerprinted, and appears before a judge, where he pleads guilty.

Only NOW, when the story comes to light, does he protest the charge.

    What a maroon.

Yes, it is...well at least in California. I had a friend who this happened to. Basically a cop was in a park restroom where my friend was jogging and the cop was at a urinal and my friend was using one a few feet down. Well, the guy looks at my friend, and they exchange looks, maybe a little too long, because my friend said the cop was attractive. Well, that was all that happened, but the cop's partner was waiting outside the door and handcuffed my friend and hauled him off to jail.

Anyway, to make a long story short, when it was taken to court, the cop had done so many of these busts that he couldn't remember specific details, and was jus there busting people all the time. The case was dismissed because the judge said that it was entrapment.

Still, unlike this dumb guy, my friend knew he didn't do anything and fought it. Why Craig plead guilty is beyond me. No matter how "stressed" you might be, I can't imagine accepting something you didn't do. Also, he's a senator for pete's sake, he couldn't get some decent legal advice before pleading guilty? This is all too fishy. Also, the fact that the cop said he gave him his buisiness card says a lot. Why would you NOT think this would somehow get back to you if you tell them who you are? Big, sad, gay dummy!

Democratic senators in general are quietly waiting for more evidence and are not seizing an opportunity to demonize the guy or to use one man's failing as a basis to trash the entire Republican party.

But Republicans are calling for his head:

And still the damage isn't contained. Craig's senate seat was formerly considered "safe" in the `08 election, but now that's out the window and they're going to have to spend heavily to keep it. This is the main reason why they need this story buried by this time next year.

But it's still idaho - they'd vote for an axe murderer before they'd vote democratic.

    Oh, I am!!

The thought of having sex in a public restroom is funny. The thought of cops hanging out in a public restroom to catch people having sex is funny. The thought of Republicans having any sex at all is funny. The thought of a conservative bible-thumping Republican Senator getting caught having gay sex in a public restroom is absolutely hilarious!!

The supposedly talentless Bill Maher said after discussing Republican opposition to pornography, homosexuality, etc., that "Republicans think sex is so bad, because with them it always is." Sorry folks, it's funny.

    >>Craig is like kryptonite to the GOP - they want him gone yesterday.<<

Yup, stick the fork in him - he's done. It's interesting how fast Republicans are lining up to get rid of him for homosexual activity. Would that they'd had such moral outrage for Alberto Gonzalez or Ted Stewart. But we all know boys kissing is much worse than white collar crimes or politicizing the Justice department.

Um not to give out too much info, but I dated a girl who was hardcore Team Elephant. Well let's just say that we had some "good times" if you know what I mean.

I'd like to think it isn't for the homosexual activity per se, but for the fact he got arrested in a public restroom, copped a plea, and then compounded the problem with this absolutely hideous denial. So far, he accepts no responsibility at all for his actions. And I won't believe him for an instant if he does a 180 here and cries and begs for forgiveness. Larry Craig can go to hell.

Your tax dollars at work. Is there nothing better for those cops to be doing than this sort of thing?
