That was an opinion held by the far extreme of the Republican party, so sane person was advocating this...

Romney, to my knowledge, has not proposed anything either. Such is the hold the NRA has on the country now.

Get off your left wing script! This guys name was Jeffery Johnson, a 56 year old womens fashion accessories designer layed off last year. If your going to accuse "gun toting Dixie southerners" of actually shooting people, then PLEASE PROVIDE US WITH AN EXAMPLE!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah! your right! It was some redneck gun toting southerner who shot up a theater in Colorado and now the Empire State Building!!!! NOT!!!!!

While there will be plenty of Monday morning quarterbacks critical of the police, this underscores the absurdity of the pro-gun lobby argument that we just need armed citizens so we can all be safe. Here are trained professionals, they're surrounding a guy who's just shot a man in cold blood on the street. Will he shoot more people? So they react.

This isn't the movies where the ace takes out the bad guy with one head shot. Guns hurt innocents even in the hands of trained people who mean well and are just doing their jobs. But I'm supposed to trust that Joe Sixpack can just quickdraw and save the day? No thanks. Do me a favor, Donny, and leave your guns at home in the safe.

No, but you're supposed to trust that the trained gun carriers will be as effective as these police officers.

They couldn't be any worse based on the performance of the NYPD.

There are several ways a civilian could do much worse. They could fire and kill both the gunman and bystanders. They could fire, miss the gunman, and kill bystanders. If they miss, the gunman could have time to return fire, killing them and bystanders. On and on it goes. There are countless reasons not to trust armed civilians.

But too many gun owners live in a fantasy world where panic doesn't exist, where that very human moment of shock and "Is this really happening?" don't exist. Nope, they're all Jason Boune cause they took hunter's safety and fire at a paper target on an indoor range.
