I really don't want to feed the troll, but I just have to say that this statement is flat out wrong. The biggest shareholder of any company is not a dead person. We may not know where his shares will be going in the near future, but he is no longer alive, and therefore can not legally own anything.

    >>Make no mistake about it. Without Steve Jobs, Disney Would not be the company it is today.<<

This is a fair statement. However it's covered in so many fanatic nonsense that it really loses its value. He played a role in shaping the company, that most people don't know too much about. That said, I still don't think he needs the fanatic attention that you seem to crave for him.

It also remains to be seen just how much influence Steve really had on TWDC. I'm sensing not that much, given the mess currently going on at DVC Hawaii Five-O and with Shanghai's troubled development.

The only surefire thing Steve accomplished at Disney during his short tenure was keeping Lasseter's butt out of the sling after PatF's and Cars2's dismal box office performances.

Jobs was good but he wasn't the tech god that so many have described.

    Hmm.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

LP is not a news site. We don't cover breaking stories in depth. But we certainly did NOT ignore the death of Steve Jobs.

The story broke October 5 in the early evening, well after LP had finished updating for the day. (LP is headquartered in Florida, which means the story broke late evening there.) Regardless, a news item was almost immediately added to the Disney News section of the site:
    <a href="http://www.laughingplace.com/Latest-ID-78668.asp" target="_blank">http://www.laughingplace.com/L...8668.asp</a>
(This was time stamped at 4:48pm.)

This was followed by an LP Tweet, which was retweeted by 34 others:
    <a href="http://twitter.com/" target="_blank">http://twitter.com/</a>#!/Laughing_Place

An LP Discussion Board subject (in World Events) was launched at 4:52:
    <a href="http://mb.laughingplace.com/MsgBoard-T-121771-P-2.asp" target="_blank">http://mb.laughingplace.com/Ms...-P-2.asp</a>

LP's FaceBook page was updated (with link to ABC's announcement) at 5:09pm:
    https://www.facebook.com/LaughingPlace

Another discussion thread (in Disney Business) was launched at 5:15pm:
    <a href="http://mb.laughingplace.com/MsgBoard-T-121773-P-1.asp" target="_blank">http://mb.laughingplace.com/Ms...-P-1.asp</a>

Bear in mind, during this time there was still a certain degree of uncertainty about what was being reported in social media. There had been no official comment from anyone inside Disney or Pixar. And so, there was no more to report at this time other than the fact that Jobs had died. LP is not a news organization, but we do aggregate news that is of interest to the Disney community. And that is exactly what we did on the evening that Steve Jobs died.

Parenthetically, Jim Hill filed his excellent report some eight hours after LP had reported the news on its website, FaceBook, and Twitter. And you can find a link to Jim's article on LP, right here:
    <a href="http://www.laughingplace.com/Latest-ID-78676.asp" target="_blank">http://www.laughingplace.com/L...8676.asp</a> .

If the OP is so deeply aggrieved about the lack of coverage of Jobs remarkable life and its effect on the Walt Disney Company, perhaps he would be willing to write and submit an article, rather than cast aspersions where they do not apply.

However I can still live pretty good without his products. I had a very good Sony MP3 Walkman that worked very fine, but my girlfriend got an iPod and began to use iTunes. Back then it wasn't possible to use the files on other players. I don't know if it is possible today, but that was the reason why I also got an iPod.

My dad had an iPhone but now he is using his old Blackberry again. It just works better for him and I'm very happy with my Android smartphone. A lot cheaper and the apps I need work fine. I also don't need an Apple computer when I only use the Microsoft Office and the internet. Of course the Apple products look a lot nicer than most other products, and that's the main reason why people buy these products.

Apple products are very goood, no doubt about that, but I'm just not willing to pay more for things I don't really need.

I have noticed this problem many times in the LP Latest. For some reason "Discuss" is omitted and other times it is available for further discussion. Not the first time to be frustrated Hopefully it will be included all the time since this might help to reduce many topics appearing with the same theme...which is another frustration on LP occasionally.

The point, of course, is that the death of Steve Jobs did not pass without comment on LP.
