There were also a lot of live acts at the Shanghai Expo, and they all seemed to do a great job of captivating the audience Perhaps the biggest surprise to me was the official daily parade through the Expo grounds, which we participated in twice. By Disney standards it was a pretty modest affair, but there were huge crowds watching it, even when it was delayed until late in the evening due to weather. I think Disney is very wise to be planning a really elaborate parade and parade route for the park's opening In general, I think it's smart to focus on the live shows. Compared to a traditional E-ticket, they're relatively cheap to build (though expensive to operate) and easily modified to fit the local audience. Especially considering how popular they seem to be throughout China, it seems like a very wise move to me

I was a bit surprised to see that this continues well after Disney acquired Pixar. Some people want to make sure they get full credit when they license their IP.

It reminds me of one of those Buzzfeed-style "28 Ridiculously Awesome Ways to Amp Up Your Mac & Cheese", where they just throw everything in there without any real consideration for whether it makes sense or adds value to the subject as a whole. A little editorial point of view could go a long way

Originally Posted By FerretAfros I'll be interested to see how the Shanghai Village concept works out. The images we've seen so far from Disneytown (worst name ever) really remind me of the French Concession in Shanghai, so I suspect that area will resonate more with the locals. I know that DLP's Disney Village was able to survive at the end of the rail line, but it seems to serve park/hotel visitors more than shoppers looking for a special experience Then again, with the way that Chinese culture has been heading in recent years with a focus on status symbols and international brands, this could become quite the place to "see and be seen". What better place for an "exotic" foreign shopping trip than the mall next to the American(ish) theme park?

Originally Posted By FerretAfros I agree that it doesn't look like the Tron roof will be completely see-through; it will probably be quite similar to that stadium Didn't one of the videos show lights on the roof that chased along with the coaster trains? It didn't seem like it stayed lit up the whole time, but with trains passing by every minute or so, I'm sure that would be enough to give it some excitement. I would imagine there will also be some sort of other ambient lighting in the area, so that pedestrians can see where they're going
