It sounds like there's a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes, and it's tough to piece it all together<<< That would be great, but unfortunately unlike during Disney War I there's no journalist at the right time at the right place. And the Disney Family is totally out of the picture, but there must be something going on in Burbank, especially in the BoD. Maybe someone wants the job so badly that there's some kind of revolution going on. I know that may sound crazy, but the Marvel CEO isn't so happy, since the studios were moved to Burbank and under the Disney Studios umbrella. I don't know how much influence the Steve Job estate has, since they are TWDC's biggest stockholder. It's really sad that the Disney Family hasn't any influence in the company anymore.

While I really like the look of SDL, I don't feel the urge to visit the new Chinese resort very soon. Take a look at the pictures. It's disgusting. http://www.themeparx.com/shanghai-disneyland/?p=8109#post8109
Is the castle projection & fountain show the same as the fireworks, or are they two separate shows? The Roaring Rapids mountain looks pretty cool, but the huge waterfall from the top makes it look fake. Waterfalls need some upstream body of water to provide the flow. What could possibly be at the top of that mountain (other than some pump equipment) that would create that much water? I think the Matterhorn and Everest do this better, since their waterfalls don't start at the very top, and get larger as they get lower. Still it's pretty cool to see a single waterfall that tall The finished castle looks better than I expected. It's still an odd mishmash of architectural styles slapped on the outside of a big box, but the details look nicely done And guest behavior will definitely be an issue at SDL for years to come. Mainland Chinese behavior is very different than most Western cultures, so there are a lot of things that are common there that would be unthinkable elsewhere. Prior to the Beijing Olympics, they had a lot of campaigns to explain what sort of behavior would be expected, and people did a pretty good job of changing their routine while the world's eyes were on the city. But given that SDL will last longer than just be a few weeks, and will draw people from all over the country, not just the nearby city, I expect these issues will linger for a long time. And to think, there were people whose sensibilities were offended by folks lounging in the new grassy areas in MK's hub...
I always thought that it works like the one in Paris, where the fireworks and the fountain/projection show are combined. That's the only issue I have wit the waterfall too, but it still looks great. And I'm sure it looks even better when you are standing in front of it and be surrounded by all the landscape. I've been a fan of the castle since the first concept arts. I really like it. There are so many castles over here with different architectural styles, because of expansions over the years. So different designs is nothing new for someone who grows up in a country with many castles. I've heard and read about the Chinese behaviour at HKDL. So I guess SDL will be even worse, given it's in mainland China.

Wow, that claim that the Starbucks "is likely to become the highest grossing in the world" really feeds into China's narrative for the resort. Everything must be the biggest and best in some quantifiable way. Why not just let the results speak for themselves? The constant bragging makes it seem like they have something to hide
I guess they have a huge debt to hide. There are already so many people checking out Disney Town and the park isn't open yet, but I'm not sure the park will be doing so fine. I mean it's different checking out a "free" area or a park with expensive tickets. The Starbucks at DLP's Disney Village is the most successful in France. Maybe Howard Schultz is right about SDL's Starbucks, however I have my doubts, because why isn't a Starbucks in Shanghai already the most successful location yet?
